"though the long wheelbase does make tight-radius U-turns challenging at times"
Wha...? The reviewer obviously needs a little practice.
These reviews are always so... antiseptic. Boring. I mean I appreciate the kudos and general positiveness of the narrative, but I could do without the backhanded compliments, e.g. 'except for the engine it looks more like a Japanese cruiser than a Harley.' Whatev...

Agreed John, reading the review it makes me wonder if this is the first motorcycle the writer has ever seen.

As you say John, the usual, bland, antiseptic review. At least it's positive.
I've never read negative reviews on anything though

I am glad to see them recognize the America as one of the Hottest for 2012. This is a good thing for the Triumph brand and brings to light what we all know, what a great bike the America is. They also picked the new Victory Hard Ball, and if you listen to the video clip, they mention a number of things they don't like about the bike, yet they picked it anyway. If I paid $19,000 for the Victory and heard that clip, I would be bummed out...

Looking at the picture, it seems like a new (?) kind of touring seat. Anyone know if that's correct?

Bengt, the 2012 Americas have a one piece seat, although it does seem like it's fatter in the pillion than a speedys' gunfighter. (i.e. more comfy)

Typical American journalism. Not saying anything to upset the advertising revenue. If you want honest motorcycle reviews, read the British magazines.
I did like the "The humble Triumph America is but a blip on the radar when cruiser riders gather to talk shop. " statement. I like being a blip on the radar.

The wagon wheel looks more muscular? Or the fat tire?

Bryn, that's not a problem over here, since, as you've no doubt heard, we Americans are a portly lot! Lots of padding already built in, so most of us are quite OK with minimal factory padding on the pillion...

That there review is diluted piss water. Served up by a p.c. hack that wouldn't know what makes a great bike if it were ridin up his arse.

Doesn't matter as long as it gets people into the dealerships.

What the heck? Is Caspian Blue back? I just looked at the Triumph site a week ago and I didn't notice that color..But if it's true, it's about time. Maybe they'll bring back Cardinal/Mulberry reds as well.

Man! You're sure right there, Paul! Isn't that Caspian Blue beautiful?!!! It's always been by favorite color on these babies.
(...I know I've said this many times before around here, but if they would've had that color option back in '02, I would've bought that instead of my Cardinal Red)

Dwight, looks like they call it Caribbean Blue now.
It looks a little brighter than Caspian. I like the new front fender also....reminds me of the Honda Ace fender I picked up and never got around to painting.

"gentle Triumph twin... humility of the engine" What crap! Have that hack suit up and come ride with the boys. His tune (pun intended) will change after that.

Weak sauce. I wish the magazines would get someone who know about riding to write for them. Instead of a journalist an educated rider. Hard to do a 'u' turn my foot. I can whip mine around in the middle of a residential road or a two car driveway no sweat. Lylesdo I got a feeling he would wet his knickers if he had to ride with some of this crowd.

Actually Chad, my guess as to why the writer wrote what he did was because he might not have been used to the whole feet-forward "cruiser" setup, because ya see, just like our new friend Engmoose40 who in the thread he started today about asking about our bikes in order to get the scoop on his possibly purchasing one, and within that thread he stated one of the two Triumph dealership he visited evidently thought so little of these bikes that they didn't even order one for their showroom, of which my guess is that like more than a few Triumph "aficionados" out there who view these Triumph Cruisers as some sort of "abomination", well, I think this journalist who wrote this article might not have been familiar with the handling of this genre of motorcycle because he too might be more Sport Bike or Standard Bike "inclined" just as it sounds that particular dealership seems to be. (...btw, I think I'll send my post here to The Guinness World Records to see if it might qualify for the title of the World's Longest Run-On Sentence!!!)
