Hey Mark, I fabricated some custom highway bars for my 03 America. I used some 3/4" tobacco twist rebar to make mine. They have brackets that attach where the down tubes bolts are located. It was kinda of tricky getting it the right spacing when welding them but came out looking fine. Basically its a bar that runs across the front of the down tubes with brackets that attach to the inside of the down tubes. If you go this route you will need to find longer bolts which was unavailable in my area and I had to order them from the net from some company in Colorado that escapes me at the present time. I wanted some sort of highway pegs so I could change my riding position on long rides and all day trips. From previous experience and several back operations I need to alter my riding postition from the regular pegs, to highway bar and rear pegs during 300 to 500 riding days. The only drawback that I can see is the placement of these bars are not good for anyone who is short. I am 5'11" and they seem to work fine for me but a buddy of mine who is about 5'6" says that they are too for forward for his taste. I need to take some pictures and post them so all can view. If you need any help just ask I will gladly help you with any info you need.
