All ya need is a length of PVC pipe to mimic the sound of a Didgeridoo. Besides, I've gotta leave some room in my case for my bike gear. Yep, this rally is going to be something else. It's been a dream of mine to ride over your way and meet people like Chris, Dave if he can make it and all the other fantastic people on this forum. I know the word culture is used way too often and many times out of context but I started off on that other forum and defected just as another bloke was booted outa here (some will remember) and i knew then this place had a real culture that was accepting and helpful on one level but were straight shooters on another. That's when I knew I wanted to be part of it. Anyway, it's Just a shame the population is spread too far and wide for everyone on here to meet up. I'm sure we can make do though, and particularly with the great accommodation and countryside for riding.

Stacka, Have you researched what it would cost to bring a motor bike over to the States, to be able to ride? I dream of taking my bike over to England, Oz, Aussie, and South Africa. It would be even better for a group to do so.

Actually Justin, I was just thinking 'again' how brilliant it would be to ride around / through or whatever way necessary to see the best parts of the U.S. To answer your question though, sort of. What I mean by that is, we have a shipping company over here called "Get Routed". Now one day I'll explain what "Route" (but spelt differently) means over here if you don't know already but I vaguely remember them charging around $3,000 USD return (When I say vague I mean it ha ha). I can easily find out the exact amount and yes, whilst it's a lot of money, I think you'd agree Justin how priceless it would be to be able to ride your own mount. I too have thought about the idea of a group of us touring a country but I'm a realist to believe it's near on impossible for most people to afford both the time and the money. Meaning, if you want to live your dreams you have to plan your own thing and as they say "Ride Your Own Way". Apologies for that but it's true. I've also travelled a fair bit by myself over here and it's an extremely liberating feeling to accomplish. In fact after I visit the States, I will be taking delivery of a new Tiger with the exact intention of riding round the best places of Aus. After that ya just never know do you??

I don't know about being THE funniest. But I do know that I make me laugh everyday! And we'll definately be talking about hooking up on the way up. If it's anything like last year, or the year before, you fella's go right by me, as I live about one block from your route up. Remember the first year, we ate at an Italian place just up the road from me.

I'm sure you've heard this one before Stacka, but maybe somebody here hasn't yet....
Australian Customs Official at the Sydney Airport: "Sir, before I allow you into our country, I have to ask you if you've ever been convicted of any crimes in England?"
British Tourist: "Wow! I didn't know that that was still a requirement to get into your country, sir!"

this rally has me considering something I would not ever previously thought of doing, trailering the bikes! I really want to have speedmaster there but it is not set up to be a 2 up bike, where as the Tbird is. The mrs could ride the speedmaster but refuses (claiming sanity)and the T-bird is too big. So it got me thinking, I know of several people with trailers I could use ( I will try to avoid the HD logo ones). Take both bikes and room for a keg or 2 of homebrew. Normaly I would consider the ride there to be a part of the trip, but in this case it is pretty close and roads I could ride most any time.

Hey Micah, you DO realize don't ya that with that one parenthetical addendum in your above statement, you have GREATLY diminished your chances of a successful ending to your upcoming search, RIGHT?!

All the HD owners I know have trailers. But not all of the trailer owners have HDs. Hows that

I've been thinking about getting a trailer too. Not for the midwest rally, but for the family trips back east. Every summer we pack up the kids and go to Delaware for a week at the beach. I've often thought of how nice it would be to have my bike there. I think I'm going to mount a hitch on the (how gay is this) mini van, and trailer the bike when I go back home.

Scott, I was looking at routes & towns where we might be able to meet in IA for the ride into Westby, but danged if I could find a good one that didn't drag you too far west to meet. :hmmm Anyhoo, It'll be great to meet you @ Rally Central on Thursday!

I don't know why this hasn't been mentioned earlier but are we doing T-shirts? Is there still time? Can't imagine a rally w/o a T-shirt.

Not sure. I'll have to get with Eddy and see if he is able to do it this year, I know he's had a lot going on.

I'd buy a couple of t-shirts if they were available. Has there been t-shirts made for other Midwest rallies. If so is there any chance of seeing what they're look like. Just interested that's all.

Ya, Stacka. We've always done t-shirts. In fact, I don't think I've been to a rally without one. Here's what the front looks like: See big scary dude with the shades(that's rally master scott) On the back is usually a nice big image of fast eddy's logo. I could take some pics of mine if you want a better look, just ask.
