Ok guys, I got a request for payment from the Logan Mill Lodge (aka rally central).

"Since we have turned away other groups who wanted the same weekend as your group will be renting the lodge, we need to ask for rent payment at this time. Watch for an email from Paypal with a request for payment of $1350."

The amount is for all 3 condos, all 3 nights. My plan is to have you all send me a paypal payment and I'll send it to the lodge. I think the best way to do it is to take the total and divide it by the number of people. If only the people who are definitely in, we have 15. I didn't include Biker (Ed & Vicki)or enGage because they are staying somewhere else. That comes out to $90 per person, so it's $30 a night for each person. Obviously if some of the people from the "maybe" list decide to come, the total per person will decrease, and I'll refund the rest of us accordingly. I'll keep a list here of everyone who has paid and how much.

Please send Paypal to scottcripps@yahoo.com. If you don't like paypal and would rather pay another way, that's cool, pm me or email me, let me know how you want to do it.

If anyone has any questions, comments, concerns, please pm me, email me, or post it here.

Thanks guys, I'm really looking forward to the rally this year!

1 – Very interesting ride all Wisconsin - under 180 miles but plan on 5 hours.
Westby north on SR 27 to Cashton, then SR 33 west to SR 162 north, take CR II (left) to CR I (left) to SR 33 (make a left then a quick right) onto SR 162 south to Coon Valley, stay on 162 to SR 35 on the Mississippi river, go south to Genoa. Take SR 56 east to Viroqua to SR 82 north, turn left onto SR 33 and go west over Wild Cat Mountain and into Ontario, turn left onto SR 131 south to La Farge then turn right onto SR 82 west back to Viroqua and then a right turn north on SR 14 back to Westby.

2 – Easy ride – Great River Road north – 2 states – 260 miles, 6 hours – all day ride
Westby take SR 14 west until it joins SR 35 (great river road) north, cross the river going through La Crescent and onto Minnesota hwy 61 go north to Red Wing and loop around onto hwy 63 across the Mississippi and back into Wisconsin. Take SR 35 south to Onalaska (or divert a bit east to take the Mindoro cut ) and onto I-90 east. Take the SR 162 exit at Bangor, ride south to meet SR 33, go east on SR 33 to Cashton and then south on SR 14 back to Westby)

3 - Easy tour of river – 3 states – 240 miles, 6 hours – all day ride.
Westby take SR 27 south/west to Prairie Du Chien, cross the Mississippi into Iowa the head north on SR 76 (great river road). Stay on GRR north (hwy X52) to just before La Crescent, MN. Turn left/west onto SR 16 to Rushford, and then take SR 43 North to I 90 east. (Option here, take 43 north thru the bluffs to Winona. Or, ride down I-90 (very scenic) back thru La Crosse)
Then; onto I-90 east. Take the SR 162 exit at Bangor, ride south to meet SR 33, go east on SR 33 to Cashton and then south on SR 14 back to Westby.

just throwing these out there

Here's a few rides Mag10 suggested awhile back...I'm open for anything that involves some nice twisties & scenery.

So far no solid plans, other than riding friday, riding saturday. I'm sure there will be a few interesting stops along the way. Usually everyone just hangs out together after the rides at the hotel, maybe drink a beer or two. Otherwise, no itenerary has been set, but I'll work on it. And of course any suggestions from those more familiar with the area are welcomed.

Here's the lowdown as far as the rooms/layout of the place, just in case you were wondering.

Rent the entire 7000 sq. ft Logan Mill Lodge in Westby for just $450/night and get all this…

Condo #1 (on first floor) will sleep up to 8 people in 4 queen beds:

1500 sq. ft. including 2 bedrooms (each has 1 queen bed), 2 ½ baths, kitchen, dining room, living room with 2 queen sofa sleepers

Condo #2 (on second floor) will sleep up to 8 people in 4 queen beds:

1500 sq ft including 2 bedrooms (each with 1 queen bed), 2 baths, kitchen, dining room, living room with 2 more queen beds (Murphy bed that folds out of wall and bed by fireplace)

Condo #3 (on second floor above the party room) will sleep up to 8 people:

1500 sq ft including kitchen, dining room, living room with 1 double size sofa bed, 2 bedrooms each with 3 single beds (can be converted to 1 king/1single in each bedroom), and 2 full bathrooms.

NOTE: If your group is smaller and you don’t need to rent the entire lodge, you can rent each condo for $150/night but rental fee would not include use of the areas of the lodge listed below.

CABOOSE - will sleep up to 4 people in one 8 ft x 20 ft room – this is like a “camping cabin”

You will be sleeping just like the conductor and the engineer slept when this caboose ran through Westby at the end of the Milwaukee Road Caboose during the 1950’s!

Caboose has 2 single beds and 1 double bed. Note that people sleeping in caboose will need to bring sleeping bags

Caboose does NOT have a bathroom but there is one bathroom with shower in the lodge designated for use by caboose occupants.

Extra bed/bath suite in hallway near party room: can be set up as 2 single beds OR 1 king bed. – usually used for the group leader and/or for Grandpa/Grandma.

PARTY/CONFERENCE ROOM – seats 48 people around tables and has a kitchen at one end of party room that you may be used by you and/or a catering company for group meal prep/service

GARAGE 20 x 50 ft. 2 car garage that can be locked for secure parking area of bicycles/motorcycles/cars. Also works for overflow from the party room for larger groups as there are plastics tables/chairs that can be set up to seat another 48 people in the garage.

Thanks for your interest in my Vacation Rental Condos and Conference Center !

Count me as a YES!!!!!! I'm on vacation that week and that area is like my back yard. I'll probably stay either at the Central Express, or a buddy's place about 10 miles away. Tons of good riding to be had out there!!

Thanks Karl, just trying to make it cool for everyone.

Barry- I think central express is booked up that weekend. There's room in the lodge if you want.

I'm about 90% certain I'll be there. Just me, the wife won't ride on the bike. What's left for accommodations? I'm guessing a chicken coop and a bring my own sleeping bag? What is the cheapskate rate and where do I send it?

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Haha! You missed out on the chicken coop, you'll have to stay in the pig sty! I'm kidding of course Larry. There will be room for you in the lodge, but will probably be on a fold out bed, or murphy bed, or perhaps a twin bed in one of the condos. There is however an option to sleep in a restored caboose, if you do indeed want to bring a sleeping bag. Not kidding this time. (see page 9 for room layout) When we get closer to the rally we'll see how many people we are and if anyone needs to bring a sleeping bag. $90 will cover you for all 3 nights, but this number should go down after we are all accounted for. At that point ill send everyone whatever the difference is. The price of the lodge is 1350, so I'm splitting it up by the number of people. Right now we're at 15.

Yeah, a big thanks from me too Scott. I just had a look at the layout of the Lodge and for the money, I can't believe what we are getting. Also the amount of work that would have gone into converting the original mill to accommodation is really impressive. Obviously, hard working folk in Westby.

I also love reading about the History of the area and get this, the neighbors are Amish. Cool

I'm really looking forward to riding the beautiful country and to meet one of the most generous blokes I've ever come across. I'm talking about Eddy (Fast Eddy Sports).

He's putting me up in his Caravan for a few weeks and even letting me ride his Speedmaster whilst he has to go to work. Wow. I just hope he can fly over to Aus so we can ride some of the great country over my way.

Anyway Scotty, this rally is going to create memories I will never forget. Thanks again mate.

Anyone coming thru central or north central Iowa on the way to the gathering? If I must shove off alone, I would like to hook up with a convey...

I am currently working on two local cats with a BA and a SM to ride with.

I'll be leaving from the Des Moines area. I'll likely take the scenic route rather than deadhead to the rally.

My current plan is to head out on the 4th and ride up to either Des Moines or Waterloo then head out Thursday morning for Westby. I'm Tentatively planning on meeting up with Scott, and Chris somewhere in IA for the ride into Westby. PM me as we get closer and as planning gets more complete.

I will probably hook up will ladisney who is in Des Moines. He has a back road route planned from Des Moines to LaCrosse that looks pretty bitchin. It goes up to me in Alden and over to Parksburg, which is about a half hour from Waterloo.

looking good and it does look like we will be get the ferry.. web page if we were just going to the rally we would not do it..but now that we are going out early and and staying with family it just makes more sense then trying to ride around Chicago because it's hard enough just driving through Chicago...in a cage

Hey guys, do me a favor, when sending me money through paypal please send it as "personal" not as a "purchase". If it's put through as a purchase, paypal charges me. I'll cover the difference, but I'm gonna be owed a couple beers come rally time! Maybe a nice cigar

Here's what Wildcat Mountain looks like. I took this video last year. It's a fun ride and very close to rally central. I grew up in the area and know it like the back of my hand. I'll gladly lead an excursion or 2 through some nice lesser known scenic back roads if anyone is interested.

Awesome video Barry! I think it would be great if you were to lead us on some rides, I was hoping to have Micah do the same, since both of you guys know the area well. Usually these big group rides are best kept to about 200 miles or less, and we have to plan meal stops, and other cool attractions/scenic stops along the way. I can't wait until July.

The nice part of our location is that most of the really cool places to see are within a 50 mile circle of rally central. Personally, I think the location is one of the states best kept secrets.

I'M IN!!! Looks like I can make it after all! The wife can't make it though, and I'll have to find a way to make it up to her. I'll be talking to some of you fella's to find out if I can hook up with ya for the trip up.

Hey Rich, that's cool. Maybe you could hook up with me and buffalo on the ride up. We'll see. As it gets closer I'm going to try and organize the trip up.

Hey Rich, that video was great. Loved it and the way you put the sound track with it.

To the rest of you, I've alrady been asked to bring over some Vegemite so if looks like a box of cigars is in order too hey?

Mind you, I don't think we here in Oz are renowned for our tobacco knowledge and expertise. Our beer's up there though.
