FJ's post of the VW got me to thinking and led me to IMCD whic untill today I didnt know existed. (So cool!)
This got me to thinking, best fun teen/car movies.
Even though I was too young to "get it" the first time I saw it, the all time classic:
AMERICAN GRAFFITI
In 1980 I went to teh theater to see the next one. it is literly filled with cars and HOT ROD mag, provided a bulk of the cars.
THE HOLLYWOOD KNIGHTS.
The 90s had their version of fast times at Ridgemont High (While a great movie did not have great cars, aside from spicoli's van. It was called"
Dazed and Confused. Had some nice Mussel cars in it.
Mal: "Y'all see the man hanging out of the spaceship with the really big gun?{ref, Jayne} Man's lookin' to kill some folk. So really, it's his will y'all should worry about thwarting."

I thought you were talking about movies that we saw as teens in the car - at the Drive-In. Ok, so I'm older than a lot of youse guys, but my memories of those days are still fresh and this thread isn't going to be half as interesting as I first thought

As a teen I never watched the movies while at the drive-in.

One of the earliest movies I recall seeing at the drive in was the The Exorcist. Scared the living shat outta me. I believe the first one I drove to see was Up In Smoke

how about "eat my dust" and "Grand theft auto" a couple of Ron Howard movies and i think grand theft auto was a gorman(king of the "B" movies) production if not mistaken. i know it was the movie that put Howard on course to where he is today as he was the director and maybe the writer
ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

Do you mean the older one I went to see or the more recent remake?
There was a more recent movie with an unseen truck driver chasing a bunch of kids in a Chevelle that they stole from his house. He even taunts them over the CB. I can remember the name of it but that one reminds me very much of Dual.

Last movie I saw at a drive in was "Blade Runner" they had lots funky cars in that. Split rear seats had arrived and the box of beer stored safely in the trunk.

We did too but they usually tried to drink the beer lying down and spilled it all over themselves.

I remember my cousin used to fill the front of his Super Bug with ice and then dump a few cases of Old Style in!. To this day I think that is the coolest use of a VW front end! LOL
As for the first movie at a Drive in for me,, Mom and Pop took us to see a doubble of Old yeller and Swiss Family Robinson. My cusin took me and a frined to see Blue Thunder when we were about 12, he even filled the front end! LOLOL. best time two 12 yr olds could have! This was when the theaters had just started putting it over the airwaves but I cant remember if it was AM or FM band.
By the time I was 16, the only drive-in left had become a XXX. WE used to go to the edge of the mall parking lot in the back corner and try to catch some of the show ,,, then the mall cops would chase us off.

I never went when the sound was broadcast, we were always tethered by a wire with the speaker hanging in the window. Unless we had the truck with lawn chairs in the back.

Watched the trailer on Utube. B grade but at the time in the right mood although it would probably have been a renter on VHS format.

Yeah, I noticed reading the post a second time...like the movie, it can't be mentioned too often or watch to many times.
