Not quite ready for the dark side, but some of the DSers like the Bridgestone for their front tire. What intrigues me is they have a 140 front tire (stock is 150). There's a guy on one of the forums who is going to try it out this Spring. We're hoping it makes the front end a little lighter when cornering. Apparently they have a 130 that will work but it supposedly looks funny with the fender.

That's my initial thought. The venoms have been good to me on my TBA. They're not bad, they're just expensive and don't last very long.

How does the life of Cobras compare to Venoms?

Michelin is advertising double your mileage on a bike tire now. With their new comander 2.

Don't know if it always holds true but usually double mileage = 1/2 the grip.

My Tiger 1050 came with Michelin Pilot tires on it. I got just over 10,000 miles out of them. Both front and read wore at the exact same rate. Currently I have Michelin Pilot Road 2 tires and they are a true dual compound tire. Great tires and the tread wear seems to be better than the OEM Michelin tires.
On my America I have the Metz 880 front and rear and like them a lot. Much better than the OEM tires and also better than Dunlop. The tread wear also seems to very good, and like the Tiger at about the same rate for front and rear.

Michelin should get twice the mileage, they cost twice as much. I found with Metzler Marathon 880's (170/80 rear 130/70 front) the percentage of extra miles was exactly the same as the percentage of extra cost.

I wish Michelin made the Commander II in a 120/90-18 front tire. A set of Commander IIs would be my first choice. Michelin still makes a 170/80-15. The best tires (12K or so) I've run on the America were 110/90-18 and 170/80-15 Commanders.

Has anyone run the Pirelli Night Dragon tires. Tread design looks good for wet/dry?

Irun the Pirelli route 66, Have since 36,000 miles , now have 110,000 miles. About 14-15,000 on front and 28-30,000 on rear. Handles well rain or shine. The dragon as I understand is great handling, but lacking in wearability.

I just received my new tires, I decided to go with the Kenda 673 Kruz. They are suppose to track very well, maybe this will end my head shake problem (If not Triumph will have son explaining to do). The back tire looks huge off of the bike, I ordered the exact sizes that are on the bike now. Front 110/90-18, rear 170/80-15. I will mount them next week when I return from a trip up North.

Follow up report on the Kendas... For the first time in 6000 miles I no longer have a head shake/wobble, so it was the Lasertech mismatched by the factory with an 880 rear that was causing all of the problems. The tires track straight as an arrow, look good and corner fantastic. Now I just have to see how long they last.

I stayed with the stock size (what was on the bike new). Wet weather, I will never know unless I get caught in the rain, not a wet weather rider but no need to be when I have seen less than 10 days of rain in the last 300 days.

My Kenda's handle the rain in Fort Lauderdale just fine. If you need to know about Kendra I think there's a video out somewhere...

In the market for new rubber too. Never heard of Kenda til recently but have seen a lot of good and not much bad written about them. Think they're worth a shot.

Anybody ever order tires from these guys? http://www.chaparral-racing.com/dept.asp...CFQ4zhwodfzxUCwThey've got way good prices on Kendas, and since Fast Eddy no longer sells them I gotta get 'em someplace.

If they have them in stock, your lucky. I had to buy a new rear tire this week & re-ordered from KN, they called the next day to let me know that they were out of stock...their three vendors had none and it would be a three week wait for inventory. I went online to Motorcycle Superstore and called customer service...they had ONE in stock at the Kentucky wherehouse so I snagged it. Other sites I checked posted out of stock when I tried to check out.
BTW...I love the way they track and corner.

Me 880 on the back and Dunlop K177 on the front. Bikes in the shop as I speak (write?) getting the tires put on.

Stopped by my local shop today and ordered a set of K673s. The total for tires, tubes, mounting, etc., is going to be around $200. Darn hard to beat that price. Hoping these live up to their reputation.

I've had the original Bridgstones, two sets of Dunlop's and now Metz 880's. So far the Metz's are wearing better than either of the other two.
'06 TBA - Black, AI and Snorkel removed, K&N Drop In, Gutted Stock Pipes, 145/42, 2 turns out.

I have never been on any other motorcycle forum where people actually named their bikes like this one! Bwhahahaha
I have also never been on a bike forum where ANYONE said anything positive about Kenda tires. I personally use Dunlop 404s on my heavy KZ1000E1 (shaft drive) and they wear well although are a bit "hard" in the rain. I use OEM replacement Bridgestones on my Goldwing as they wear the best.
I have used 880s in the past and have had two different rear tires split so stay away from Metzlers. I had a set of Commanders in the past and wear was quick and they didn't handle well on a Vulcan cruiser. Avon Venoms are great but tend to be sport oriented and wear a bit quicker.

I got 14,000 something miles out of my IRC front, which was about 2 times the mileage that the previous two tires got... Now I'm running them front and rear. Good grip, handles the rain well, if the rear tire holds up like the front, then I will likely never go to a different tire.
Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.
