Fuses are underneath the cover that surrounds the ignition switch.
However, there is a chance that you shorted the battery before the fuses, in which case there is a chance the battery is buggered (might just be flat though)
Can't you take the battery back?
Maybe blag them a bit by saying it must of been faulty when they sold it?
