Thanks Bill. The shifter was the easy part, actually.
While I was in SoCal about a month ago for the pretty much rained out Hansen Damn British Ride, I stopped into Matt Capri's new dealership location(quite an improvement over the little place he had before) and John the parts guy there was nice enough to sell me the shifter on a floor model 2011 Bonneville SE. He said he'd just order a new one from Triumph to replace it.
It fit perfectly right on to the gear shaft, and while there I went ahead and removed the forward linkage but kept the forward peg.
