That's the same Kuryakyn cap I have. I bet you got it so tight that it killed it's venting capabilities and that's the answer to your running crappy. I'm with Ian here, a little soaking or maybe some gentle heat should free that puppy up. And you need to add an inline filter after the petcock for insurance.
