The Memorial Service for my Dad, Larry will be as follows:
December 3, 2011 at 2:00pm
Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church 1751 Wesley Chapel Road Dahlonega, Ga 30533
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for your kind gifts to be given to the Dawson County Parks and Recreation Center or the Dawson County Humane Society.
My Mom has asked that everyone know this is a very casual service. My Dad was not a suit kinda guy.
We would encourage you to Ride your Motor to the service if the weather will allow it.
We look so forward to you attending this memorial of my Dad. You can just about bet my Mom will probably have some of her cakes there! Haa!

Oh I couldn't agree MORE!!! If anyone is deserving! Larrys service to his country and his love of riding! He deserves a PGR mission.

If someone would make a memorial patch for Larry, I would certainly purchase one.
The Houston BMOA lost a member last year in Malcolm Dixon, a similar-aged racer...we had a patch made up of his favorite ride, his BSA Rocket III, and had "In memory of" with the years of his life embroidered across it.
Inexpensive, the purchase price should cover all costs, or any profit could go toward one of the named charities...if somebody would just take the time to design something.
Keith Houston Ridin'Texas '04 Speedmaster AI removed, Pingle, UNI Filter, 1 shim, straight-through slash-cut TORs, Stage 1 DynaJet, 140 mains, 3 turns, 16/42 final drive, 115K 2020 T120 Black

Just a quick word about the Memorial Service.. My Mom is adament that it's a very casual affair, i.e., No suits! My Dad wouldnt wear one, why whould you is her feelings about it. It'll start at 2pm at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. After the service, there will be a meet, greet, and lots to eat at the fellowship hall on the Church Grounds. I know my Mom is making at least three cakes (Strawberry, Blueberry and a Blackberry) that were my Dad's favorites. I'm also trying to talk her into a Lemon pie or two seeing as how thats my favorite And, true to my Dad's love of music, there will be a bluegrass band performing a number of songs during the service. He'd got a helluva kick out of this! Haa! Looking forward to seeing you there. Thanks! Jim, Rhonda and Anna Grace Sheppard

Mark , that's the PGR website , www.patriotguard.org . We have a forum section sorta like on here . We all show up an hour or two before any ceremony , etc. and form a flagline. You can sho' show up and jine up widdus , you don't hafta be a member to do that , 'speshly bein' a veteran and all !
P.S. If Zoomie's comin' up , she needs to give you at least 1 hour head start.

Thank you to all we attended the memorial service yesterday. We were a bit overwhelmed by the all the love and support. The Patriot Guard was most impressive and to see so many of Larry's "ride buddies" holding a flag in is honor was truly and AWEsome experience. Again, thank you for all the support, prayers, good thoughts, love and presence during this trying time for our family. It is times like these only our faith, friends and family can sustain.

Back home. I thought the memorial service was very well done. Great to see Larry's family, friends and riding buddies come together as one to pay our respects and reminisce about our friend Larry Sheppard. Larry left this earth doing something he loved, we should all be so fortunate, you will be missed sir. Rest In Peace

Well , it was a great memorial service . The weather was pretty good and the response was fantastic. We had a good PGR showing , and a bunch of BA.com members showed up as well. It was obvious that Larry was beloved by lots of people. A twenty-one gun salute was given by several brances of the Service and followed by the haunting notes of "Taps" from a solitary bugle. The reception following the memorial was a celibratory feast prepared by the Methodist ladies , it rivaled Thanksgiving dinner, and Mrs. LarryShep made her signature cakes. It was not just a memorial service , but a celibration of Larry's life and legacy. Thanks to the following BA.com members for honoring LarryShep with your presence (and forgive me if I overlooked anyone). Some of these folks rode a LONG way to be here - Maryland, Kentucky, South Carolina, Florida, Tennesee. Now THAT'S dedication. chy and Di (them) BigPoppy (John) b717doc (Mark) lynchphoto (Gordon) snekeptp (Pete) English Yankee (Greg) Yota (JR) mikemm03 (Mike) ThomWill (Thom) moe (Jim) Nemo (Puck) Wade (me)
