It's a distinct possibility the CDI crapped out on you because it got wet in the rain. There are members here who pulled the CDI after a situation such as yours, took it inside to dry it out and found that it later worked again. It seems the resin seal forms hairline cracks allowing moisture to get inside the unit. So, after a good drying it's an idea to smear a silicone sealant on the resin to seal it up again.
