The long wait is over.... got my mic today.
I just hooked it up and tested it very shortly, but even with that short time, I must say that I am quite impressed. This is a lot of mic performance for the price.
Had a short run with my hand drums, and nothing so far had been able to capture them quite like this. And I didn't have time to play with positioning so much yet.
If you're looking for a cheap mic just to play with, the Blue Yeti is really nice. They have an USB version (the one I got) for the ease of just plugging it into a computer (in my case my MacBookPro) and record, or the "Pro" version with XLR input.
Now, I tried it with an iPad too, I had high hopes for that.... but the quality is not showing there. I believe that the iPad audio drivers are not as nice as my laptop.
So, for the cheap price of about $100, you get to choose the settings of either a stereo mic, or three other patterns: cardioid, omnidirectional, and bidirectional.
Check it out!
I'll hopefully have something to show for soon...
