I always thought the Shakers were usually indigenous to the Ohio area .

Yes! There was a 4.9 that happened 2:00 am (CST) early Saturday morning. Didn't feel that one here in the OKC metro area. Just before 11:00 pm Saturday night was quite a shaker, 5.6. First it sounded like a huge thunderclap, but the sound kept roaring. Then the shaking started. Some folks close to the epicenter had chimneys crumble, and other damage. I felt one here about a year ago, but nothing like this. Our pets started sensing something before it happened. Not liking this trend.

There is a long ignored fault line there. That once caused enormous earth quakes.

I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. Edgar Allan Poe

I didn't feel the one at 2am but last night things were shaking quite a bit. I thought ...I'm glad I don't live in CA where this happens all the time. I was wondering how much it would take to start damaging pipes etc. I agree it was kind of freaky. You just don't expect earthquakes in OK..tornadoes yeah.

Thanks, Chad. You made me look. The New Madrid is close, but according to this it was the Wilzetta Fault, which is also known as the Seminole Uplift.

It was an unreal feeling.

No poop, there I was......In Moore , Oklahoma at a Super 8 Motel...when just after 10pm the room began to shake...thought something had crashed ...everyone ran out of their rooms....we figured an earth quake, no clouds in the sky so we knew we were safe from tornados....went back to bed.....daughter texted me from Norman, she felt it too....Oklahoma....the land of flying cows and shaking ground...
