Well I watched a whole episode this past Tuesday. Not sure what I think about it yet.
But I learned that Direct TV is going to drop the Fox network. Have any of you guys heard about this and know whats going on?

Fox News is negotiating for more money from Direct TV. I can't imagine a deal won't be reached. Direct TV is not that stupid.

I recall this came up a few years back, you can bet a deal will happen

FX and a bunch of Fox sports stations get shut down on Nov. 1st, I am a Directv subscriber & will be mad if I miss the last five episodes of SAO. Yes, this happens often and usually with resolve...this round does not look promising. Fox has a complete website with their story on the negotiations information and Directv has theirs, both have conflicting information. Directv has also setup a complete FAQ for customers because they have received so mant complaints.

Fox tried that with my cable company and they no longer carry one of the FOX channels.

Meanwhile, back to S.O.A. I don't watch it anymore. It's not about motorcycles. It just has some motorcycles in it. They don't even mention them.

Fox News had, at one time, been a cash cow but since they are no longer taken seriously as a news network their revenues have been cut nearly in half. The network is trying to renegotiate all their cable/satellite contracts to make up for the drop in revenue. They will settle before there is any interruption in service. They can't afford not to.

I have no idea what Fox's revenues look like, but in this economy I imagine all networks' are down. But, stating that no one takes Fox News as serious is laughable. Fox News' viewership numbers dwarf the other networks' numbers. If Fox sucked so bad why would they have the balls to ask for a raise in rates and why wouldn't Direct TV just walk?

I don't turn to them anymore but I think Fox has ratings equal to MSNBC and CNN combined.

After Tuesday night, SOA has just gotten strange.

I'm always reading on Drudge, that Fox smokes the competition show by show, week after week on cable, not true? I had my cable removed a few years ago, so I don't watch either.

First off we are talking Fox owned channels, FX, Speed and fox sports. Fox news will continue without interruption, it is the giant and a cash cow. Now, SOA..I was initially drawn in by the premise and slowly got sucked into the drama of the whole mess. Yep, it's a soap opera for guys and I now understand how my wife gets sucked into a soap that she watches. I hate the idea of investing this much time and not be able to see the last five episodes...somebody is going to get snuffed & I want to see. Most of my other viewing habits are Speed, National Geographic and a lot of A&E stuff. I still read a book every two weeks and spend way too much time online reading politics & bike sites.

Yeah for the most part you're right...but I'm still totally addicted.
Happily, somebody out here has some kind of hookup (or knows a good pirate site), and I'm almost current on the episodes Already seen eps 1-5 of seas 4 - got ep 7 but not 6 so I'm waiting to watch it.
I wanna know if Juice is totally screwed or not!

FOX news will remain its FX, fox sports, and Fuel thats going away. It angers me because I like Fuel TV. I think FOX is getting greedy because they have the only things on TV worth looking at as a general rule. Even the science channels like Discovery, TLC, and Animal planet have crap on most of the time. Cats in sweaters and other such garbage.
As For SOA I think its a very well done tv series. The sets look real, the acting is good (no cheesy lines), and the cinematography is very catchy. Its more like watching a movie than the average tv drama.

When you guys say "the last 5 episodes" do you mean canceled after this season or is that still an unknown?

I like the show, it's the only TV drama I've even considered watching in years(AMC's upcoming Hell on Wheels looks pretty good). Great acting by Perlman and some of the others but I do agree that there ought to be more bike action.

Crazyhorse, you say greedy, I say Fox would be irresponsible not to charge more for product views like and want.
I don't watch SOA, not really interested in the "biker" scene. Also, I just can't commit to following a series due to work schedules. But you are right the quality of the production is very good.

Yeah Kenny, I've gotten kinda hooked on "Blue Bloods" too.

Btw, there's another new NYPD-based drama this year that I think is great, "Prime Suspect" starring Maria Bello, and based on the old British police drama starring Helen Mirren. I think Bello is fantastic in it.

Prime Suspect staring Helen Mirren is still on PBS here in KC on Sunday nights, good show. She's still hot, as is Bello, of course they can both act very well (notice how I recovered from my sexist objectifying of women?).

Boring? You smokin' crack?

soap op·er·a
Noun:
A television or radio drama series dealing typically with daily events in the lives of the same group of characters.
Synonyms:
serial

So all the shows Kenny named fall into that category. And who cares about the bikes! They're Harleys!
