Just flipping around the channels and happened upon Auction Kings and a guy had just brought in a 67 Triumph Bonneville chopper. It's clean and runs good, used to belong to a bike gang The Scorpions. This guy kept saying how it was all original and nothing was original. It was a hard tail with a springer front end. The kicker is the guy says "I'll take $10,000! It's only worth about $3,000 to $4,000 but anything can happen at an auction.

Values must be a lot different where they are, some guy just appraised it at $8,000 to $12,000! I could see $8,000 at the outside as a possibility if someone really wanted it but hard to believe when so many are around for so much less.

How the heck did you find that topic specific video, Jim? I had to laugh at around 1:16 when I thought the guy was gonna break his leg while showing off that HE could ride, lol!!

There's crazy stuff all over eBay. I was looking at a handheld power tool I had just bought for $79 and the 'Buy It Now' was $459.

It's what I do for a living, search the internet.
But actually this one was easy. Google.

Yeah, I caught that last night after work, as I record all the Auction King episodes. The "expert" they brought in was Brian (can't recall his last name), and was the president of the Greater Atlanta British Motorcycle Club here in Atlanta for awhile. I've had alot of good conversations with Brian, and was quite surprised to see him on my TV....He's been instrumental in helping me with my 72 Bonneville....

How can he use the words custom and original in the same sentence? I have noticed that before on that show that they don't seem to know what they're talking about.

Reminds me of the tail of the guy selling the original axe used by Abe Lincoln to split rails in his youth. It had had 8 new handles and 3 new heads, but it was the "original".

Many years ago in NZ I answered a ad for a "immaculate" Bonneville located in Auckland, a major city. Drove up there to the address I was given. Turned out to be the headquarters of the Highway 61. Anyway having come so far I went in past the barbed wire and guard dogs to inspect. Was a total wreck with a huge pool of oil under under it. Patch member informed me that he was only selling it as he needed the money for airfares as was out on bail at the time. After being very polite for about 15 minutes and trying to find a good point about the bike to comment on I left with a promise to think about it. Needless to say that did not go any further.

Love the last line of the voice over on the video "win or lose someone is walking away with a shrunkin head" Perhaps that is why they paid that much or thought they could get that much for the bike.

Wow, a "little high" ya think? I ran across a nice 71 bsa hardtail bobber a couple weeks ago; guy wanted 2200 for it. If I had more than 22 cents in my pocket I'd be riding it today. Even had the yank left foot converted shift!
ride when I can, work when I have to
