Depends on what you mean by "gearing" and what are you trying to accomplish. they both have always had the same transmission. For most years the Speedmaster had a smaller front sprocket that would get you off the line a little bit quicker, but you would feel like you would run out of gears sooner, making the America feel a little but better for cruising on the freeway. But, I am pretty sure the last couple years the Speedmaster and America both have the same sprockets.
