Yup, it's for sale. There are some comments on the topic in this thread John started recently.

I'll take a stab at about $13,000.

I'll bet it'll go for a whole lot more than that, Ian. Considering its history, I'll bet every M/C museum owner at that auction will want that motorcycle for their collection, and so a subsequent bidding war will drive the final hammered price way north of your figure.

(...my guess...closer to $40,000 or even higher)

If they bid on history it may go higher but I doubt $40,000 but only time will tell.

Yep. I'm basing my guess on the whole "history" aspect here, of course. I mean, anything connected to a Hollywood star or an American "iconic" program or movie, usually goes for big bucks, and much more than the same item that doesn't have that sort of connection attached to it.

I mean, just look at how much people want and get at auctions for motorcycles and cars that Steve McQueen once owned.

(...usually it's two, three or four times what the same item without his connection would normally hammer for)

I can see the McQueen stuff more than the Fonz even though it was a popular show. Have to admit I watched it.

It looks kind of scuzzy and rusty. Could use some TLC. MY guess is, it will go for around $50K.

And Winkler never even knew how to ride...it was really just set dressing unfortunately.

Yep, but don't forget it was also owned for many years and most likely ridden by Bud Ekins, one of the greatest Hollywood stunt riders and a M/C racer of note, and the guy who really did the barbed wire jump in "The Great Escape", not to mention the majority of the driving in the famous car chase scene in "Bullitt", and the laying down of the Triumph motorcycle and sliding down the road in the same chase, among many other notable stunts in many other films.

That should also add to this bike's value.

I'm guessing that will add to it's value. Kinda like the rough and tumble kind of guy it represents.

To me it would be much more the Bud Ekins connection than the Fonz that would make it desirable.

Pretty amazing that in the 1974 Gone in 60 seconds car chase they only used a single Mustang. Forget where I saw it but it amazed me looking at that car and it was still going. The Bullitt car reminded me of it.

Serious motorcyclists and/or collectors may scoff at Winkler's lack of riding prowess (he's an actor, not a biker) but I think this is more important to fans of the show. I know Happy Days had a huge impact on me as a child. I probably saw every episode many times (same goes for M*A*S*H).

Two of the greatest movies ever made, by the way. And I'm not discounting that at all...that right there would be worth more in my eyes than having been on "Happy Days" - though it was a good show.

But I'm wierd. I'd pay more for a 'stang driven in "Bullitt" then I would for "Eleanor" from the newer Gone in 60 Sec.
