Removing the AI is fairly easy. The only really tricky part for me was that funky clip between the hose and the piece threaded into the head. I nicked myself on one of them, while removing it, and bled a bit all over the top of the engine.
I know nothing about a resistor (mine is carb), but Ian's most likely right on that.
After installing the bolts on the head, be sure to check them tight after the next few times you run her.
Save the vacuum hose, it makes a great alternative if you lose a "squirrel condom".
