The Nikon D80 is the fall back DSLR for those on a budget. There are a ton of them out there and many pros keeps one around as a back up camera. The D90 is the updated version. It's also easy to buy lens for. My point and shoot is a Panasonic ZS7. It's a pretty amazing little camera. Incredible lens and sensor. Also has GPS if you want that. Takes near DSLR quality photos. Woot had the ZS10 (latest version) for $199 the other day but I didn't look to see if it was a refurb or not. Panasonic has come on the photography scene in a big way in just a few years.
