So back on topic, the real way I got my nickname was a grizzled old Harley biker friend saw me sitting on my British bike, and said, "Hey FRIAR!" It stuck. He said if I bought a Japanese cruiser he probably would've called me "Buddha."

Bullet dodged there...

The day in question:

Well, my name is really Bob. But, my poor old dumb mother, bless her soul, never could spell worth a hoot despite being a teacher. Whenever she wrote me a letter, she wrote, Dear Bob (spelled B-0-0-b).
She really did.

My screen name? It's kinda self-explanatory I think as I am one, BMA Baptist type. The guys at Deep South Cycles (former Triumph dealer in my area) call me by that handle. When I first signed on I used a handle given to my by some of my computer tech support students where I used to work but felt the need to let that one go and be true to my calling. there you have it....

When I was a child my daddy said I'd be a preacher by the way I tore into the fried chicken for Sunday dinner.

Years later after all the drugs, booze, oil field and jail his prediction came true. He's gone now but I can remember him snapping pics of me in the pulpit. The flash would put spots on my eyes and I couldnt see my text but I sure miss that old dude.

Miss Annies comes from my persona reenacting the 1740's-1780's. Annette is my middle name and a family name from 5 generations. Then it became my email.

Nothing fascinating, but it works.

Yeah, like Chad here said, I suppose that COULD be fun, Kathy...UNLESS one day you happen to hear somethin' from the Organizer like:

"Okay folks! Today we're gonna put a little 'French flavor' in this thing. Here's your knitting needles Susan. You're playin' Madame Defarge today. And Kathy dear, slip into this here lovely gown. You're playin' a Royal today. What's that you ask? You're wonderin' what that guillotine is doin' there? Well, you just let ME worry about THAT, okay?!"

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Not sure if this has been a post before, but its always been of interest to me. I'd love to hear how you guys and gals came up with your screen name... Pat? What the hecks a "Dinqua" haha.

Lee

Wow, late to the party again.
When I was growing up in Canandaigua, NY (pronounced: Kan-An-Daygh-Wa) me and my buds would refer to ourselves as "Dinks from Dinqua". Our slang name for the town. Sorta stuck.
Cheers Lee!

My name just reflects my personality. It stuck when my son saw a shirt for sale with a black and white cartoon kitten ready to pounce and mischevious written in glittery neon pink and insisted that I had to get it because it was me. Never mind wrong size and style, and I was timid and withdrawn with anyone but my kids. Since then, I bought my first motorcycle summer of 2006 and sure enough, came out of my shell to be Ms Chevious.
I am notorious for taking things apart to see how they work. (Usually I can put them back together again too) and not always good at following intructions. Point of frustraition for many including my husband. I only mean well though.

The big taboo on here is politics. I wonder why? We should have a politics thread. That would be funny.

Because people like you can't handle it. And there's nothing funny about it. By all accounts we shouldn't have a Lounge, if this site is really about motorcycles.

I don't see the problem w people talking about anything in the lounge area, That's what a lounge is for. If you don't like the thread don't involve yourself or read it. Move on. No reason getting upset about the tiny spec of cyber space the single thread is consuming. Not to mention this is a great place for people who have at least one thing in common to share whats going on in their life. Not to mention people shouldn't have to go on another forum for every aspect or interest their life entails.

BTW my name is Frank D'Angelo III hence FD3

What Dwight is alluding to here is that in the past when such discussion was allowed some members became very insulting and hostile towards anyone who disagreed with them, thus creating more work for the moderators in the way of getting bombarded with e-mails complaining about the discussions to having to lock threads and delete posts.
We lost some moderators because of the tension caused by it.

So.
The political and religious discussions are banned.

There are other forums where you can participate in those topics to your hearts content.

Some people suddenly forget how to play nicely with others when their pet cause is (or causes are) brought up. It's not the general topic that's the problem, it's the specifics that cause it to go off the rails. And nobody is ever going to change their mind (or I should say, have it changed by someone else) because of a forum discussion so what's the point? Talk about politics (funny how religion is rarely a problem by comparison)...

...elsewhere.

Oh, man, I regret making the comment now. The truth is there is no room for politics in polite company. That's an old saying that holds true still today. I was just being crass when I said we should have a political thread. We can't even discuss helmets, loud exhaust or motoroil with out it becoming a heated debate. Hell we can't even just say the word Tanzania with out losing two members.

I'm bringing this thread back to life, haha, that's funny considering my screen name. But I never got to participate in it long ago and we've had several new members since that may want the same chance.

Mine is really simple. Leith is my last name and so its just a little wordplay. Ya see I never actually had my own computer until around 2004. Spent my $$ on other things, anyway one day at work this guy was screwing around and showing me this online game he played. Long story shortened, I bought it. And created the username of LeithalJack, Jack being my son's name. Ya see I've never really had any cool nickmanes growing up, been called lotsa other names but nothing nice. Since a fight I had with a tablesaw back in 2011 people at work been calling me "Nubs" don't bother me none but to late to change it now. So "Leithal" it is.

Nah, I wasn't that clever in that moment and when I joined I was actually stationed in San Diego CA. Really don't think "Leithca" would've worked anyway, however "Sand Dog" could've been cool. Again not that clever.

Mostly just a regular guy, nowdays, and I never killed a man who didn't need killing, and I never shot an animal except for meat. Knew a guy named AL once. Haven't always live in Ala-freakin-bama eiether. Just got some way way back in the day roots planted deep in the rust colored clay.

BTW Joe what colOr is "Crantini"?
