Most of the trolls on websites are anonymous and use names that cannot be easily traced back to them. I use my own name and make no secret of who I am. I think it should be required, especially on the political websites. If I'm going to preach it I should live it. Those of us who have been on BA.com for awhile (since late 2004 for me) remember a few anonymous jerks, though they are, mercifully, very rare here.
Since very few of us here hide their identity it's not much of an issue. Elsewhere that is not the case.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
