I got my handle back in the late 70's while through hiking the AT (Appalachian Trail) as "Wicasa Ska Tatonka"....my pack weighed about 70 lbs...and hence the the name Buffalo (big heavy lumbering beasties ya know)......I later learned that in the Navahoe language that handle meant "White Man Buffalo"......over the years it has been condensed to just "Buffalo".....I also learned that the Navahoe and Plains tribes held the Buffalo as a symbol for success.
