If you want to keep your current grips, what about heated gloves or heated glove liners? I have the Powerlet heated glove liners and they work great.

They are not bulky but you may want gloves one size up if your current gloves are a tight fit. They use the latest infrared technology in a lightweight stretch material. There are no wires in the fabric - the whole fabric heats. So they are just like a thin glove liner. Check them out at Powerlet. I got mine a bit cheaper on Ebay but sizes are limited. I also got a remote temperature controller which I mounted on my handlebars for easy adjustment while riding.

I use the oxford hothands heated grips that just velcro around the current grips. used them last winter and where very hot. just put them back on to get through this winter. the advantage is when summer comes they disconnect approx 6 inches from the grip the i just wrap the rest of the wire up in insulating tape and tuck it under the front of tank.that way leaves nice clean looks for the summer. Wiring was easy just spliced into the breaklight circuit and stuck the switch onto the triangular engine mount where the aux outlet goes so cannot leave them on by mistake.they do make the grips chunkier but got used to them after ...ooh lets say 10 minutes

Heated gloves are what I like too.
