BTW, take the catalytic converter off if you can. Plenty of people doing aftermarket replacements and It gives a few more bhp. Like it needs it! All I know is mine felt quicker. Don't know if it was psychological or not. Cat weights a bleedin' ton too!
Been reading up on that. Can't seem to find one for under $300.

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/3/1...c_ID=11325..... Buy this and the Gipro and you will be all set to rock!!A little over $1100,you will have eliminated the Catalytic converter, opened up all secondaries to 100% and fooled your ECU into believing you are always in 4th gear, hence 100% power at all times...and will have enough noise to disturb your neighbors and will run off any potential ex-wives!

Rocket should be leaving Bloomingdale, IL (25 miles outside Chicago) tonight. It's already traveled about 1350 miles, assuming mostly direct routing from Orlando to Chicago, with 1400 left to go if it comes fairly directly. It could actually make it to Montana before the end of the week, though if Reboot has taught me anything about motorcycle shipping, that doesn't mean it will be delivered promptly once it hits, say, Billings.

Sorry John - the part number I linked was for the Touring. Here's the one for the Classic: Jardines
Free shipping. Two left in stock. Ships within 24 hours so should get there right as they're unloading the R3 from the truck.

Not in the budget right now. I guess I'll just have to suffer with the stock bike for a little while. But I did bookmark the link...

So John, I suppose this means you won't be at Reno, this weekend. AmyLee and I are heading out Thursday morning over Sonora Pass and up Hyw 395 to Reno. Have fun on the new to you Rocket.

No. For the same reason I can't go to the Oyster Run this weekend. Work. I have to be at a trade show for our biggest client on Monday and Tuesday.

Not yet. I guess I didn't post my rant here like I did on Facebook.
So they picked it up two weeks ago (Monday) in Ft. Meyers and took it to the warehouse in Orlando. It sat there until Friday, when it was loaded onto another truck and taken to somewhere in Georgia. That Monday, one week after pickup, it ended up just outside Chicago.
There it sat until YESTERDAY. It sat in Chicago for ONE FULL WEEK.
Tomorrow it will be in NEWCASTLE WASHINGTON (Seattle, for all intense and purposes). Yes, it just went SAILING RIGHT BY MY HOUSE ON A TRUCK in the last 24 hours. If they took I-90 it literally passed me about 60 miles away. Tomorrow the final truck will load it up in Washington (they told me this today, this morning) and that guy will start his weekly Washington-Idaho-Montana delivery loop, lasting a week. So it could be here Friday or it could be next Wednesday.

The difference is having to pay for a tune up and a rear tire immediately rather than next year.

Nothing ships through Chicago quickly. Mail takes more than a week oftentimes, and that is within the city and suburbs.

Hey FriarJohn, I hope you Thoroughly enjoy the Rocket III. Since my post of the photo of my America and R3T, I have replaced the R3T with an '11 Thruxtron. I'll post pics some time soon.
For me, the R3T just wasn't getting the right amount of attention...I had thought that I was going to be doing more long distance riding (hence the touring version)....the reality is that I would rather take my car (BMW M Roadster) for distance ride/drive.
Having said that, the Rocket is a BLAST to ride...the power is intoxicating...I really think it could tow just about anything (including a small house).
Have fun on it....
Steven

Supposedly it was indeed loaded up yesterday. I haven't gotten a call yet today so it doesn't look like it will be delivered before the weekend.

Truck driver called. He lives about 140 miles away or so. Needless to say I was surprised when the call came in from area code 406. Will be delivering around 8am tomorrow.

Blue/Cream is one of my favorite color combos for the R3, glad you finally got it. Are you going to stick with floor boards or go to pegs?

I'm not changing anything for a while. If I can rig up some rear pegs I'll keep the floorboards. But I have to get rid of the heel-toe shifter or trim down the heel peg like someone did here on their America.
Here's another shot from this afternoon, the obligatory MacDonald Pass overlook shot...
I'm collecting my thoughts on a blog post on my site. http://www.friarsride.com/rocket-report/
I've already got a shopping list going for this Winter or next Spring.

First decent ride on the Rocket today, over to Missoula. Very comfortable and the power is intoxicating, but it can't hold a candle to the America for handling.

now is yours ..is what they call a classic???? I know it has a wider tire on the rear and I believe the same rake as the America ..
I know On the RT3 it has a 180 on the rear and less rake as the America and I will have to say it handle just as well my America..
but it did take some time to get use to it because it did have so much more power and weight then the America
so what I am saying here john give it time once you are use to the rocket look out in fact when i get back on the America its like getting back on a toy ..and guys and girls this is not a put down ...............

Sort of like when I ride my TBA, then hop on the enduro. It's all relative I suppose.
