Well I've done a bit more riding and I think my Corbin is settling in well.
I'm settling in my backside too,but after the same amount of time on my stock seat,I'd be hurting.
for the corbin

do all the Corbins come with the insert for the backrest

No. I specified a backrest insert delete option on my seat. I was told that I could not add the the insert later if I did this. No regrets in doing this.

Corbin will allow you many custom options. I also deleted the welts. They took my weight to get the correct amount of foam density for me as well.

it might work well for you. Im 240lb/6' so as I ride I get pushed back into the seat and it just hits me there.

I'm happy with it so far,but it's early days.
I like the look without the flap for the backrest.

imho the crux of the corbin syndrom is this: If your backside is larger than the saddle pan, the backrest insert will hurt you.
Corbin should take into account your height & weight when you order the saddle. But we have to ensure that this inquiry is done. I rode to the Corbin shop where I spoke to a rep. Not so much about height and weight, but the rep saw me and could tell how to stuff/shape the saddle.

Break'in? Ha! Mine is as hard as the day I got it. And I like it that way. The Corbin that came with Cinnamon Girl is a little softer. On the order of yota, my saddles each have two boney butt dimples! So you could say they did break in a bit.

Boiling this down, if you order a corbin saddle, please do not do so without talking to a representative about your physique. They will customize the saddle for your particular needs.

darn now you have me worried, i ordered the back rest as well but i won't likely use it all that often, there are not a whole lot of pics out there of the seat withought the backrest in it so was not sure how that flap would look, does it really look that bad?

It doesn't look bad at all. I usually only use my backrest on long trips, and the flap has never bothered me nor drawn a negative comment about looks from anyone.

Yes that's true.Nobody has commented about mine either.
There's always the option to add a backrest later with the insert too.

Is there a hole under the tab? As far as I recall, the only difference between a seat set up for a backrest and not is that the former has a hole in that little tab. I ordered mine in 2003 before I got the backrest. My tab doesn't have a hole in it, but the seat has the bracket for the backrest.

Thanks for those pics Jim.
I'm happy with how my seat looks now.
It's the same, except as Friar John has said,a hole in the tab for a backrest.

P.S. I did a 200k ride today and I'm a little sore but I think if I was using the stock seat I'd be in agony now.

Here's the Solo with Pillion on my 2010. These seats are fantastic, and worth the price, IMHO. Well worth it.

[image][/image]

The seat is a TIGHT fit to the tank. Once they wear in, they're fine. I put some ClearBra on my tank so dirt that collects between the seat and the tank won't damage the tank's finish.

[image][/image]

I had Corbin do their logo in stitch on the RH side right next to the shock mount.

[image][/image]

[image][/image]

It helps to keep the leather treated. I also purchased the rain hoods as I leave my bike outside while at work. It helps with the rain we get.

I'm confident you will LOVE it, Mike. I recently toured Alberta as you know and NEVER endured saddle sore. The day I left Edmonton I rode hwy 22 South, then over and down to Waterton Lakes. When I finally dismounted I felt just fine (and THAT'S a long ride).

I finally got my new corbin gunfighter. I did the dark brown alligator on the main seat, and the black alligator on the tail, with distressed bomber jacket leather separating the two. I've done a few decent rides since I put it on on wednesday, and I have to say I absolutely love it. it's a little firm, which I know will break in eventually, but even so - SO much more comfortable than the stock seat (to me anyway.....) here's a poor pic - I'll post some decent ones this weekend when i take some.

put me down for "pro-corbin"

I use this software Fast Image Resizer

For your photo I took the dimensions of the original photo which was HUGE (1536x2048) and scaled them back 60% to 923x1229. Had to add a custom size (Edit the resoultion list (scroll down to the bottom)). Then drag drop post to your photo site then get the addy and post here.

Photobucket is a winner. Try it sometime.

Once you upload the image, click share, copy the UBB Forum code then paste that in the BA.Com posting box (Instant UBB Code, click "URL"), somebody help me out here, I can do it, but I can't explain it worth a dang. Trust me Paul ,you can get pictures to post, I did thanks to "imagejoe", computer stuff is definitely not my forte.

I think you WILL be able to give it a scoot after the seat arrives. Wed, Thurs and Fri all look good in your area, albeit a wee bit nippy! Looking forward to your review!
