You want a mini toggle switch like this one

and a waterproof rubber boot like this

to fit the console. No mods required.

Of course these are from an Australian supplier but you will find them easily in the USA from any electronics store.

I have six of them on my bike - two on the console and 4 in a switchbox under the tank.
