From one Noob (only by the sites "standards") to another....welcome Marty. I know your gonna love riding your new BA. Oh! BTW gopher is awful stringy....kinda like squirrle, and ground hog tends to be a bit greasy. I prefer venison myself.....LOL

squirrel is good cooked in a crock pot, same with rabbit.

Used to get served squirrel when I visited my Mom's people in Kentucky. We called it 'Kentucky sirloin'. I'm on a low rodent diet these days.

It's funny how good some stuff is when smoked. I don't like bluefish, too greasy but is very good smoked. Eel is really good smoked too but I like that cooked all different ways.
