Funny how things go...
My students here love earthquakes (we get a 3 or 4 every week or so) and especially the bigger one (5 to 6) as they say, it feels "comfortable" .... eh?
I live in a place that experiences at least 3 earthquakes (of significant power) a month, a bunch of little ones and add the interesting turnout of a few hurricanes (called typhoons here) during the summer and fall seasons, it makes life interesting!
So when I asked "Why do you say you feel comfortable during an earthquake?" The answer was: well, because the chairs we sit in move and shake a little bit in the way a massaging sofa feels ... so it feels comfy!
I couldn't find any other comment than the fact that we, most of northern Americans living on the shield, feel scared when an earthquake hits, not comfortable!
Different lives....
After living here for close to a decade, anything under 4 doesn't arouse any feelings.
A 5 will get my attention,...
A 6 will get me looking for the nearest exit....
Never experienced anything bigger than a 6.x ... knocking on wood....
