Anyone ever used a gauge type carb synch tool like this ? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_W0QQcmdZ...RKQ3aMEWAXQ3aITI've only ever used the mercury type. I would think the gauge needles would be jumping around too much making it hard to read.

Yes, I have the 4 gauge set and they work fine. The kit comes with snubbers which squeeze the vacuum lines to prevent fluctuation. Simply screw the snubbers in until the needles stop bouncing.
Before the gauges are used, you may have to remove the covers and center the needles. Once the adjustment is made, you should switch the gauges between carbs to verify both are reading the same.

Mine paid for itself the first time I used it. They can be had so cheap there's no reason to roll your own, unless you like the smell of ATF...

I like the regular mercury balancers. Sometimes the simple basics are best.
