Well newt, I have to admit you make a few good points in your above "thesis", however I suuuuure wish you'd get off your "It's all that bad ol' government's fault" and/or your "Gov't Conspiracy Theory" kick you throw out there whenever topics like this are discussed around here.

Ya see, UNLESS we DO GO to some form of "mandatory governmental birth control" which would restrict who has "the right" to pop out kids in this country like Communist friggin' CHINA adopted a few decades ago(and I'm CERTAINLY NOT advocating THAT here), people WILL continue to pop out rugrats willy-nilly in this country, and throughout the world where they have the "freedom" to do such...and ESPECIALLY as long as public Family Planning Centers are looked down upon by many of a certain segment of THIS society here in the U.S.

AND, because people WILL continue to "pop 'em out", BY NECESSITY the "bad ol' government" HAS TO step in and attempt to UPGRADE the education of those who WILL continue to pop out little ones and who have had REALLY poor educations themselves, or else we'll just have yet ANOTHER generation of "Know Nothings" among us!!!!

Now, have these "attempts" been totally or even reasonably successful in the past? NOPE!!! But, what is YOUR suggestion here for an alternative means to break this ongoing generational cycle of an under-educated class, HUH?! OR, for THAT matter, people of average or even higher educational backgrounds and incomes, but who for WHATEVER reasons just assume that the education of their kids has little to do with THEMSELVES! And, I would venture to guess that this SECOND group of people in this country probably outnumber the FIRST group of which I just made mention!

Do you think everybody can go to those private schools which demand that either these kinds of kids "start learnin' or else", and where in many cases of these private schools, they just kick 'em OUT if they don't?!

Wouldn't it be "nice" if every school, INCLUDING Public schools could do THAT, huh?! I'm sure the teachers in the public schools would like that!

(...yep, "sink or swim" baby...THAT'LL "teach" 'em!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
