And, in a way, THIS is exactly my point, Ian. We need "diversity" not ONLY among different riders and owners, but in MY opinion, we need "diversity" within OURSELVES!!!
Meaning, that if one limits their OWN ideas that a "real motorcycle" ONLY looks like a 1938 Triumph Speed Twin or a 1936 Harley Knucklehead or a 1964 BMW R60/2, and thus they can not appreciate motorcycles made in the "Cafe Racer" mode or the "Crotch Rocket" mode or the "Adventure Tour" mode, or in fact ALL the many different styles of motorcycles, then WHERE exactly is the "diversity" in THAT???
Look, I see some REALLY nice Old School Harley Choppers around here in Prescott all the time, and I can appreciate them. I also see a few REALLY nice looking Ducati Sportbikes and a few Japanese Sportbikes around here too, and yep, I can also appreciate those.
And so, I suppose I LIKE "diversity", I guess!
And so, what always kind of sticks in my craw are motorcyclists who CAN'T appreciate all the different styles of motorcycles. My view is you don't have to "fall in love" with every motorcycle's appearance and style, but at least one should attempt to "diversity" their "tastes" over the years.
(...and if you THINK about it, this "limited-view" of certain motorcyclists is one of the MAIN reasons why there seems to presently be this "social division" between Harley/Cruiser riders and those who ride other styles of motorcycles, which is certain NOT conducive to the idea of "diversity", now is it?!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
