I've removed the gas tank, the coils and the bolts holding the valve cover, but the cover is stuck tight. I've tried a little bumping with a rubber mallet, and gently working my way around the edge with a screwdriver. No luck, I don't want to damage the head. Any ideas?

If you got all four cam cover bolts then it'll just need a bit of persuasion.

#1 Stick with your rubber hammer, front to back, left to right urgings, you'll win the argument

Finally got it, rubber mallet did the trick, no harm no foul. But man was it stuck tight. Got a shiny new chrome cover on there now.
