I have found that I have to try different configurations on my bike a bunch of different ways before I know what I want. (geeze, I sound like my ex-wife with furniture...)
T bag, small saddle bags, large saddle bags, throw-over, non-throw-over (whatever those are called) - windscreen, no windscreen, no sissy bar, sissy bar....
I'm getting ready to relocate my turnsignals. that pretty much guarantees that I'll buy a light bar next month and re-do that....
Not that it isn't fun.....I guess I need to touch and feel to know if I want it....(hey - that works in many contexts).
