On occasion I turn it off but mostly not.
I do switch it to reserve at 130 mile per the trip meter. Because I don't like the studdering hesitation when it gets low. I did run out og gas one time. I had to switch it to reserve on my way to the Backwoods but continued there rather than turn around and get gas. That night when I left I ran out before I could get with in 5 miles of a station. Luckily a bar maid saw me on the road and called the guys to come help. She thought I had gotten to drunk to ride and pulled over. The guys came with ramps, trucks, gas, jumper cables, and tools. I felt like a schmuck.
