Current world events are in turmoil and have put many of us a little off balance. In some ways we have not been our normal selves here on BA.Com in the past few days. But much like the majority of citizens in London or Brisbane or Christchurch, we need to rally after the bad stuff and show our best sides.

BECAUSE ...THIS FORUM IS GREAT! And the members here are great. Sure we have our crappy sides and bad days but lets remember what makes this the best bloody motorcycle forum ever.

This post is about the positive and great things we like about this forum and the members here. No negative comments allowed. (Can you delete any negative replies to this thread please Friar?) If you must say something negative - start your own thread. This what I personally think is great about BA.com.

I'll start it off (in no particular order) ...

1 - Thanks to everyone for your help and advice and encouragement with Triumph tech, motorcycling stuff and DIY maintenance.

2 - Thanks to FrankW for starting a brilliant thread where we can tell our story and learn a little more about each other. I think this is one of the top three most popular threads ever.

3 - Thanks to Friar John for working tirelessly as our chief moderator and forum tech guy. He has a very fair and stable and wise approach to difficult situations and people.

4 - Thanks to Keith for sharing his creativity and inspiring me.

5 - Thanks to Stacka for motivating a bunch of slack Aussies into social meets and the first Ozbasm.

6 - Thanks to Fast Eddy and Brent for giving us great accessories and terrific service - even on the other side of the world.

7 - I really like that this forum attracts individual thinkers - partly because our choice of bikes show we are not afraid of being different - or actually prefer being different. In fact we promote and celebrate our individuality as expressed through our bikes.

8 - I think the majority of members are over 40 and have some wisdom gained with age and so our forum is more balanced and less prone to the social roller coasters you might find elsewhere. I like the fact that in most cases even criticism is offered thoughtfully and not harshly.

9 - I love it that we can share our different senses of humour - and I get a lot of laughs on this forum.

10 - I think this forum plays an important role in many of the members lives - I mean the relationships, banter, jokes and caring has a definite impact in people's lives. Please don't underestimate that.

11 - Thanks to Dwight for being an irrepressible cumudgeon - usually at his own expense.

12 - Thanks to the comedians: Kent1969, StevieB, Wade and everoone else for sharing your wit and fun.

13 - Thanks to Ken (DEcosse) for his electrical innovations and encouragement.

14 - Thanks to the old hands and old timers for sharing your invaluable knowledge.

15 - Thanks to everyone who has helped or encouraged others here because that makes this place the best.

16 - Posers, wannabes, egomaniacs, fakes, machismos, wankers and tools either aren't attracted to this forum or don't stick around long.

This is not girly feel-good stuff and it's more than mutual back slapping - and it make us blokes a little uncomfortable but there are alternatives - zillions of forums that don't have what we have. See if you can find any community or camaraderie over on RAT? Do you want to revert and just be like them? NOOOOOOOOO!!!

Please tell us what you appreciate or think is great about this forum and members ...

This site has enabled me to make some new friends that I truely look forward to seeing each year at the rallies. In addition, there are friends I still look forward to meeting in person.

Good on ya Richard

The things I like about this site are

1. People have posted stuff on here that had nothing to do with motorcycles but I have found it interesting and enjoyable to read.

2. Most people on here have been friendly towards me and I have been able to join in on some great discusions

3. My spelling and grammar gets corrected (thanks Dwight)

4. The photography and travelogues have been inspiring , uplifting and at times breath taking

5. Apologies to the ladies on this one ... This site is chocked full of real good blokie stuff

6. I have shared in many links to great music , comedy , car , bike and truck related

7. More custom bike ideas than I could have dreamed of

8. Come and go when I please without feeling guilty

9. My chance to attempt humour

10. And lastly ... I get to say my two bobs worth (even if it is a couple of days since the last comment)

Good thread. It help to count the blessings from time to time, so the negatives don't weigh ya down. Mostly its a human experience albeit electronically aided and is my favorite part. All on here being their gloriously flawed self.

1) This site has given me the confidence in my limited mechanical abilities to completely change the look of my bike.

2) Definitely amusing. I tend to be primarily an observer.

3) Someday I'd like to actually make it to one of these rallys and get to meet some of you in person.

I'd still be riding a cold stock BA wondering how and where to get what kind of upgrades - and paying someone else to do them - were it not for this site.

I am still getting to know people, and probably lurk more than post - but I have found this site to be an invaluable resource.

the feeling of community here is very uncommon in a forum like this. I sincerely hope it stays that way. I have stayed away from some of the other forums that I used to participate in for just that reason.

I've learned so much from this site. I have also purchased some cool accessories for my beloved America and sold a few as well. Made some fun internet friends on here as well.
One of the best threads is the rides others take and getting to see their photos.

Last, but not least thanks to Friar for your tireless work and keeping this site on track. Truly the best site I've ever been on.

Well , Richard , what a CHARMING respite from HORRORS of some of those "other" threads ! But I'm no comedian , my levity is a device to compensate for my clinical low self-esteem and general introvertedness .

And , on that second point I hafta disagree with ya , it sho' is makin' ME feel good and if I ever see the likes of you over here , ur not gettin' one of those hollow sideways hugs , but a REAL boobiesquishingsweatyhug , and I'll try to not blow in yer ear !

and here's a beer for ya with a wad of that white fiberglass angel hair stuff we used to put in the fish tank filter .

I always look forward to a certain fellows parenthetical statement. It always surprises me the pop culture references that a fellow of his advanced age is capable of.

Although I generally sit quiet in the background, I too love this forum and agree that it is the best forum ever. Great bunch of guys and gals who love their Triumph's and sharing and helping their fellow trumpeteers.

Yeah! And I was all set to drop the Curmudgeon Act and join RIGHT IN on this little "group hug", UNTIL I read what some lousy friggin' Texan puppy wrote about "a certain someone" being of "advanced age"!!!

(...and NOW that warm and fuzzy feelin' I was gettin' is LONG GONE!!!)

I am deeply hurt that I wasn't mentioned! I agree and this will remain a community as long as the regulars that are here stay here and the new people that fit with us and offer respect , humor, and advice as well as criticism at times stay too and the ones who are here just to cause trouble and never have anything constructive don't.We should be able to disagree and not worry who is going to judge us for our view and continue to offer support. We should be able to share good times and bad and again not be judged or accused of trying to garner sympathy. Many come here to vent when things are bad and we ,for the most part, offer support. As well as post when things are good and fun and share in the joy those things bring. I know I for one have gotten support here when things were bad for me and it helped more than most who offered support will know and I'm sure I am not the only one. This place and the people in it are important to me. Even though I have not met most here and probably never will I count some among my friends, and some of them I don't always agree with. I had a chance to meet a member recently and our schedules didn't mesh to make it possible , I wish it had.

Steve - go over to the Member's Rides forum. Click on the underlined word "Views" and see which bike has the most views in that thread. That's far more relevant than some of those wayward threads in the lounge. You can rightly be proud mate.

Well put article, Richard.

I found this site whilst researching my purchase 4 years ago. I joined up the day I signed the purchase agreement.

I haven't looked back since, I was made welcome by all and have also appreciated all the support and humour offered by all contributors.

I visit here on a daily basis, because I also feel part of a great family.

It has been my pleasure to make acquantance of all here, and especially to catch up with all who attended the 1st Ozbasm Rally.

My only comment to you all, at this point -

Keep posting, keep riding and keep healthy.

Well put Richard! You have put it all in perspective. We all get a very short time on the planet before being called up for the last big bike run so its up to us to make the very best of it. Sometimes things do not go the way we like but "such is life"to quote an infamous ozzie bushranger!

Cheers, Richard
