Did the 'London' thread get locked or did we max out at 20 pages? I was going to make an incredibly insightful comment (as they all are) but couldn't. Just asking.

locked. If you wanted to say something about London probably just shoot right here.

Well actually, I was just about to get it locked anyway, Ian.

Ya see, after Mac said somethin' in it about the U.S. being downgraded from a AAA rating to a AA rating, I was about to say....

"WELL JEEEEEZ MAC! THAT'S 'CAUSE THOSE FRIGGIN' GUTLESS MORONS IN WASHINGTON D.C. DIDN'T DO WHAT EVERY FRIGGIN' ECONOMIST WITH A FRIGGIN' BRAIN SAID THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE TO CUT THE FRIGGIN' DEFICIT...LOWER EXPENDITURES AND RAISE TAXES!!!"

(...yep, it sure is a shame Friar John locked that "London" thread, 'cause now I'll never get a chance to say that in a thread at BA.com!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I try to let these threads take their natural course, but of course they always ALWAYS go off the rails at some point. Now I have to go back through the whole friggin thing because a member complained that two or more members were ganging up on him. I have to take this seriously but I really don't have time for this. I can't make value judgments about the worth of having this member or that one around, I have to be impartial. I miss the good old days when you louts would just kiss and make up on your own.

And did you happen to notice I (that's right, 'I'... how do I capitalize a capital 'I') stayed out of all of this? Human nature scares the crap outta me sometimes and THIS time I thought it best to preserve my sanity by remaining an observer rather than a participant. Not a hell of a lot made sense to me in the 'London' thread short of what I said... "What's wrong with "US"!

Now, might I suggest we all just chill out, and appreciate the fact that we are all alive with the potential for GREATNESS (not smallness)!!

Peace! Love! (oh, AND garlic!)

PS... and if I have to be the resident 'hippie' then so be it, as long as it comes down to getting along via the common thread of friggin' BEING ALIVE one and all!! Put it to rest... try not to start another thread of the same ol' same ol'.

In the immortal words of the late, great Red Skelton... "Good night, and may God bless."

Aah yes, "The Good Ol' Days" at BA.com...when calling each other "idiots" was the norm around here, and then afterward, everyone(BUT ONE..but I AIN'T gonna name any names here, mind you) would "kiss and make up"!

So Keith, in other words, when everybody else was puttin' their two cents in that other thread, your philosophy was(and in my very best Tommy Chong impression)..."Keith's not in London, Maaaan."

btw Keith...maybe you haven't noticed, but I personally had nothin' to "let go of" in ANY of that.

I'm just crackin' myself up here NOW because it appears some folks around here seem to take life, themselves or things in general MUCH too seriously.

This reminds me of that "ENOUGH!" thread I started a few months back. And so... move on (as in, end all egocentricity, or narcissistic posturing). I don't want to leave this (perhaps previously) wonderful place, but I will in a heartbeat if it comes down to who's outsmarting who.

It amazing me how no one... NO ONE steps up to the plate and says, "whoops sorry man, I was outta line." I love all you guys and gals but THIS needs to stop. Dang!

Keith, DUDE! ONCE AGAIN...LISTEN TO ME HEAR!

Get the hell OVER that "London" thread, and who hurt or didn't hurt anyone's "feelings", or which country knows how to stop rioting, or whatever was in it!

ONCE AGAIN, this thread has been steered AWAY from all that crap, and is NOW just an avenue toward some kidding around and HUMOR...or HUMOUR...if you happen to be in London, or British Columbia and you're reading this.

(..man, I can NOT believe you guys can't understand this...why are YOU guys seemingly taking this thread so personally, huh...err...EH?!)

Keith - you're 100% correct - That's all that was needed and we would have saved a collectively wasted day and muchos hurt feelings.

It takes a bigger man to say the "sorry" word (especially if they think they are in the right). Sadly, I guess we're small men.

What no-one here knows is the subtext of what's really going on in someone else's life. But I think I see clues to something rather tragic behind the scenes.

And why do you guys think I'm always reaching for the absurdities around here, gentlemen?

Because of exactly the reason you just gave here, John!

It IS absolutely ABSURD and ASININE that grown people can not see their own foibles or shortcomings, and thus occasionally admit that they might be wrong or have wronged another in some way and then offer up an apology. Or on the flip-side of that, be able to accept an apology when it's offered to them.

(...and lets not EVEN get into that whole "unable to compromise" thing here!)

I've got better places to be. Sadly, what took place here recently has no constructive purpose. Frig... since the early days of spiritual connectivity with the likes of Timothy Leary and company we understood this. Ego crushes human spirit. Personally, I'll take simplistic wonder over intellectual bantering and posturing.

As an after note, I've come to meet and know a bunch of you. My address and phone number remain unchanged and if you want to contact me again, it would be my pleasure. But life is HUGELY greater than the game of "who's more cleaver than who" around this here lounge.

Well Keith, "Sadly", I disagree with you here....sorry.

You see, I believe there WAS some "constructive purpose" in that now "infamous" thread. And please allow me to tell you want it was.

I learned a few things while reading that thread. One in particular was when I read Martin's story about being an ex-pat Brit and his take on the differences between his life here in the States and in England, though I failed to acknowledge his post.

And, there where a few other little item of interest in that thread which I found a little enlightening.

Sure, there was some hostility express in it too, but I thought that that didn't overwhelm the entire thread's substance.

But hey, if you found it a complete waste of your time, then so be it. BUT, I really think that taking the idea that most people around here are not worth your time and energy to be around anymore because of that thread, or this thread, or even a few other threads which you might have found distasteful or "had no constructive purpose", is, well, almost a slap in the face...especially after all these years when I've read a few of your posts which I felt had "no constructive purpose", though admittedly few if any were ever "hostile" in nature.

And so, before you depart(because that post up there sure sounds like your "Swan Song" to me anyway), I'd like to say that it sure seems to me as though you're throwin' out the baby with the bath water here, ol' buddy.

I have found all the past postings very interesting. I generally don't reply to any of them, because the fire always seems to have enough fuel.

Disagreement happens in playgrounds, offices, bars, and family dinner tables. Most arguments have the potential to run off the to higher more hurtful areas.

Sometimes the wheels simply come off and they get out of control.

I don't think leaving a family you have been an integrated part of is the answer at all. The forum will surely not be better without you and you will miss it.

All of that can be avoided if you just don't leave it.

I found that thread quite enlightening, alot about human nature in there. I read a lot of posts on here that have no constructive value, as far as the subject matter is concerned, however as insight to the person who is making the post, I have never read a "useless thread". You see those two guys who aren't getting along right now have a personality conflict, The one just wants to have fun, be happy, and spead some laughter. The other wants to be serious and share knowledge and information. WE NEED BOTH. You see Steve has been layed off from his job for some time, which is very depressing to deal with, so he deals by trying to keep the laughs comming. As far as I know Ron don't have that problem, but takes those quips as a jab at seriousness. It was not, Ron over reacted and he knows it now. My point is see how much a person can learn about the human condition by reading and paying attention to whats going on. All things about humanity are not pleasant but that don't make it not good. Many times I have seen someone get derided because they said something that was not serious, and it was very plain to see that they were not serious. But some one was taking the thread, or the post seriously, internalized it, and bam. Now they are offended. Then they take it upon themself to chastize someone, and errantly as well rather than is a reasonable way. This has happened a to more than a few people too (mostly new or newer guys). Where the same reaction would not be given to an older guy for the same thing. I have also seen new guys apologize, and still not get a reprieve. One guy apologized and actually got as a return "Do better next time". Thats not apology accepted carry on. Thats piss off on your apology. So for any one including me to pretend that, they or we are some kind of saint who always treats every one properly is wholely not true. So if any of you want to get their holy feelings hurt and leave sorry you feel that way, and I hope that you some day learn you are less than perfect and will return, because you will be accepted with open arms by all.

I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. Edgar Allan Poe
