I found this in my dads garage it is off his TR250 he had before I was born. It is gone and that is all thats left. well I have always wanted to use it somehow. Well the other day it came to me on how to use. I made it a choke nob. I still need to clean it and I want to clear coat it with paint or lacquer of some kind. But that should get the old guys talking at bike nights.

You should paint that handle for the oil to match whatever color your grips are. That green is awful. But the choke knob is sick!

The green stays LOL it is the most commented on part in a sea of the same junk. people go bananas over that oil cap and I think the choke nob is going to get the same response

Don't clearcoat the choke knob if it's wood which it looks like. Given it's age it'll most likely have a fair bit of oil worked into it from being handled and the clearcoat will never sit right. Best thing to do would be to give it a good going over with a quality beeswax, that'll bring out the grain in the wood and protect it from the weather. I love seeing stuff used in this way, my choke knob's a brass tap from an old water heater.

I will look in to it I was thinking lacquer also. I cleaned off some of the dirty oil from hands. I almost wish i hadn't but I do not want it ruined

Gunsmith supply houses like Brownells sells some stuff to remove the oil from riflestocks before refinishing, never used it, but it's available.
