I couldn't believe it. While riding by my town's digital flash board I saw that Johnny Winter is coming to town!!
"Today Johnny Winter is enjoying an unparalleled resurgence performing to sold out shows worldwide even after a long life full of honors and accomplishments such as a triumphant appearance at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Festival. In a ceremony with Slash presenting in Nashville, Gibson Guitars released the signature Johnny Winter Firebird guitar that has been his beloved trademark for years."
I ain't missing THAT one!!
Live to love, love to live.

Keith, I happened to catch Johnny Winter ~5 years ago when he appeared at a little theatre in Mizzoula, MT. It was just him and two other musicians........but boy could they put out the music. I'm always amazed how folks with that level of talent can take a simple tune, simple beat and hit all their spots dead on, every time Sounds like he's made a few other people wealthy and is now getting back on his own feet....literally jh

Guys, I gotta tell you... I'm stoked! Between Johnny and his brother Edgar there's enough talent to fill any given quadrant of the universe, and then some! WOW!!

its just amazing that he is still alive let alone playing gigs. i saw him in the 70's and figured that was the last time i would have the chance, we all knew he would be dead soon. it is great to know he is still at it. i know you are gonna ENJOY the evening and man wouldnt it be great if his brother makes a special apperance!!!! also in the 70's had the chance to see Edgar(worked his show) will Derringer and i will say Rick was a real a-hole while Edgar seemed to come off as a pretty nice guy. a friend was on the same ticket with him a few yrs ago and confirmed what i had always thought about him.
ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

Shameless name drop op: Mrs. Bucky, Edgar Winter, Me He is indeed a kind spirited, gracious cat. Johnny on the other hand... You'll have to ask Uncle Charlie about life with Johnny. He toured with him for many moons and has some great tales to tell. Is it just me, or does Edgar have three little ghosts / orbs behind him?

JW is fantastic. I'll seen him probably half dozen times over the years. He currently is pretty frail looking and will most likely stay seated the entire show. Don't let the look of an old man fool ya, he will rock his azz off. I'm in envy of you brother. Break out your ole Saints and Sinners T-shirt and have a great time.

Edgar was standing next to a member of this sites' wife

He still owes me for the last minute bail-out of a show in 1976 (Tampa Stadium w/ Robin Trower and Jethro Tull).

That is like the bail out The DOORS did in Detroit after that Scandoulous activity on stage in Florida. At you least you still have a shot at getting your just deserts.

There is still some dispute over what was actually exposed that night. Nevertheless, our whatever-it-takes-to-get-another-vote former governor issued a posthumous pardon if I recall. I only wish I still had the motivation to seek out concerts.

I think Johnny liked the long skinny neck of that 12 string Fender. He later changed to the Gibson Firebird for his slide work. Gibson made a commemerative model for him I believe. I will only tell stories around the campfire with friends. Uncle Charlie

I've seen Johnny several times, mostly during the early seventies. Always good. The Fender 12 (done up as a 6 as seen on the vid) is referred to as a hockey stick among guitarists due to the headstock shape. He played a Firebird V later, and for a long time. He had several of them. I used to have a Firebird III but like so many other guitars, i traded it for something else, unfortunately. My first big blast was Progressive Blues Experiment (which contains the song Mean Town Blues as performed in the vid). It's still my favorite, but i like 'em all. The Johnny Winter And "Live" album is a monster of a live performance.
