Yet another Airline mechanic....US Army from 1981 to 1987 fixing small turboprops (U-21/Mohawk), Hangar One, Atlanta (FTY), General Aviation, ended up at Valu-Jet in 1995 here in Atlanta taping up ex-Delta DC-9's. V-Jet grew into AirTran Airways, and we now have 140 or so Boeing 717.s and will receive our 24th and 25th new 737-700's next week from Seattle. Been with the Airline since 12-95, Union represented Supervisor/lead mechanic (?!?!). I pretty much hang out under concourse "c" here at Hartsfield waiting on mechanics that can't figure out problems on the planes. More boredom than anything...Pity anyone contemplating an aviation maintenance career, as market is flooded with A&P mechsnics... I am married (2nd) for 14 years in April, 4 kids (2 from each), 2 grandkids. Looking forward to the fishing season, and love modifying chainsaw/leafblower engines and mounting them on 1/4 scale R/C airplanes. Nothing like a 20 pound 81 inch wingspan plane flying by (inverted) 3 feet off the ground with that distinctive 2 stroke "chainsaw" sound at about 60 mph!!! Looking forward to Ga Rally in May, gonna take 4 days off, and sleep under the stars.....
