So the insignificant other you mentioned is your sister? I'm not that crazy about my sister and brother and law either but I have always let them visit because my son and her 3 kids get along somewhat. I know you want to blow them off, but IMO I would listen to your wife on this one. You don't have to stay forever. Just say hi look at the baby and split. Make sure you take your wife to run interference, it was her idea!
