tomorrow never dies-pierce brosnan as 007.He rides a white and lots of chrome bike thru the streets of turkey i think it is? I don't know bikes that well but-it has parallel cylinders and it looked like twin exhausts running down each side. Beautiful bike oohh!--- and the speedo sets off center of the h/l thanks bob s

I think they would be relatively cheap these days as that was around 13 years ago. They may also have a hint of sourkraut mixed in with the bratwurst there Dwight.

You are right Stevie. Hit the market with a big push from BMW as the cruiser for the refined biker! Not that popular and quickly disappeared again. There was one for sale here on the Island about 9 months ago on the side of the road. Had done 10,000k and immaculate and the price was about 8 thousand from memory with all the panniers and screen. Do see the odd one on the road and at bike runs but very rarely. Never heard them being bagged out but then again do not know many BMW riders either. Think they hit the market over the 20,000$ mark but do not quote me on this.

The 1200C was the second-most comfortable bike I sat on when shopping in March 2002. Actually probably the most comfortable but the new one was $16k and the used one was $12k. I was happy to buy my America instead. The 1200C wasn't $4000 more comfortable...

The R1200C is very much like the America/Speedmaster. Both weigh about 497 lbs, same size rims and tires, both with about 61 hp, but the 1200C has 70 ft/lbs torque. It also has shaft drive with a single sided swingarm. The spoke wheels on the 1200C use tubless tires due to the design of the rims, the spokes are on the outside of the rims (outside of the tires). The handling is very much the same but the 1200C does not dive in the front end due to the unique front end design. I have a 2000 with about 25,000 miles purchased about 7 months ago for $6k. It usually averages about 47-52 mpg. The battery and air cleaner are under the gas tank making checking or changing a bit more difficult. The passenger seat also serves as a rider back rest if riding alone.
There is a web site dedicated to the 1200C for those interested, chromeheads.org.

One of my best friends had one, the fit and finish was excellent. It was a hoot to ride, very nice handling. The wishbone front suspension was strange looking, but it worked. It's sort of a Bauhaus cruiser.

I saw one a few days ago with BMW fairing, hardbags and a trunk. Looked good... but I also like the bike. Was looking at them before the Triumph but since they were no longer made I quite my search.
It was a couple years later I read that the bike felt underpowered to some and maybe had another issue.

In Australia when they held the 25th Anniversary of Stone the biker movie in 1998, BMW had a number of these bikes airbrushed to match the main characters from the movie. They were then sold off through various dealerships. I remember the local Dealership having one painted with aboriginal stuff all over it as one of the characters was an Aboriginal.
I have been searching the net for images but can't find any.
The original movie of course had kawasakis not BMWs but I guess BMW wanted to cash in on it.

Larry drew a great analogy here between our Triumph cruisers and this Beemer R1200C. Not only in their overall performance, weight and handling characteristics, but also in the way it was and how our bikes continue to be viewed by many of the so-called BMW/Triumph "Purists" out there...with a bit of mild disdain.
They've always had a little problem with the idea of a "cross-cultural" motorcycle, no matter how well executed the final product becomes. And, both this BMW model AND our bikes(as you folks know) are VERY good machines.

I love my 64 R50 and I like the way that new one has the back rest set up.That back rest folds down to become the passenger seat.

Its definitely an interesting design. The only thing I don't like about it is, seeing Mr. Bronson on it pretending he is a good 007. That was probably the worst motorcycle chase scene in a movie ever. I think Jim Carey would make a better 007. That bike deserves a better endorsement than that.

No no no I love this beamer. If I had the money I would have the bike. However the thunderball BSA was sweet. Its mr. Bronson's performance that is truly an insult to a unique motorcycle.

Yea what ever his name is, Persie Bronson or however you spell it. He's a terrible actor, and that Bond movie was one of the great disgraces of holly weird.
Anyway I don't think this is so much about him as the bike so I digress.
I love the bike, it is truly an original. No cheesing off of past icons, unlike that movie.
I should take the Bronson part back, he shouldn't even shine Charles' boots. Ok now I digress.

He's not a terrible actor. Like most actors these days he's a one trick pony. Seth Rogan is another. They do one character (even if it's themselves) and they do it well. That said, Jonah Hill really needs to take a break for awhile. Same with Danny McBride.
