It has no "purpose", Chet. Tell ya what...think of it this way: You know those '64 Impalas ya sometimes see that some people put those REALLY dinky little wheels and tires on along with that hydraulic suspension setup so they can make their really "charp Cheby" bounce up and down like some friggin' kangaroo? (...well, it's the very same principle in action here....Cabron!)

Evidently it's been a while since you've been to East L.A., huh John? 'Cause, for the last couple of decades the following here has pretty much been the recognized definition of the word, "Cabron":
-Spanish: goat · Greeting among close friends—limited to Mexico --> a term of endearment
(...ya see, THIS is exactly what happens when someone such as yourself moves their primary domicile FROM a place of "rich cultural interactions", TO a place that's pretty much "White Bread City", dude!!!...ya lose touch with all that...and I think I know JUST how much you regret all this too!!!)

And F California. The day after my dad passes away I hope the San Andreas fault lets go and turns the Mojave into beach front property.

Yep, that's what I did. That particular definition is a bit farther down on this Wiktionary page here:

Oh, and regarding the following...

Yep, again, as I'm pretty sure you "might have" expressed this sort of sentiment about the "Golden State" at least a few other times around here in the past!
(...hence my closing statement above about my thinking that you "might not" hold that many regrets about moving away from all those "rich cultural interactions" there!!!)

yeah i think the seat was an 'i wanna' but the fact that the engine mount went *its up is nutz.
That is likely the fault of the owner but, it is a weakness of the Dyna and tour lines with the rubber mounted engine. If you slow the idle too much to get that "bathump...bathump" sound the engine rocks around excessively on the rubber mounts. If the rider also spends an extended amount of time with the engine idling, the mounts take a terrible beating. Softails don't have that problem 'cause the engines are hardmounted and have balance shafts.

Sounds like a design flaw if a slow idle will destroy your engine mounts.

Yeah, I thought about that. I'll have to warn everybody when my dad dies. They'll have 24 hours to get out. But just my friends, the rest of my family can stay there.

CA would be nice enough if they'd only get rid of all the politicians, lawyers, judges and other criminals.

I won't argue that California isn't a beautiful state. I know. I lived there for 14 years. But beautiful things are often ruined by too many people. The best thing about Montana and the reason it's relatively unspoiled by comparison, is winter. For those of us who can stomach a little snow and cold, we get a paradise the rest of the time.

I LOOOVE Montana, I travel there all the time, but it's been twisted, as far as personal liberties, by politicians as much, if not more, than most states. Whenever I hear a politician tell me he's against government intervention I know he's trying to control my life.

Ironically, a lot of what's wrong with Montana now is because of Californians.

Yep, like too many people from Montana, and Pennsylvania, New York, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Oklahoma, Mexico, Vietnam, Russia, Armenia, etc, etc, etc.

And that is exactly why I loathe Tunbridge Wells …..if you can stomach the intense grey cloud in the summer and the dreary, wet, sometimes arctic winters then that 6 days in the spring and 4 days in the Fall is…erm mediocre riding weather.

I moved from Colorado to Western North Carolina 26 years ago and found heaven. Six months out of the year we do have the Floridians slowing to 10 mph (among other delightful driving habits) any time the road has the slightest curve in it but there are a few bills in the works to make tourist season truly tourist 'season'. We get to shoot them.

Hey Chet..question... In any of these Bills presently before your legislature, might there be any provisos in 'em which might state somethin' like: "The bluer the hair, the higher the bounty"??? (...oh, no particular reason I asked...I'm just a little inquisitive like this sometimes, ya know)

Oh yeah, trust me here, Chet...as you can imagine, with the mostly sunny days and warm weather of Arizona all year long, just like Florida we have more than our fair share of those azure-haired folks 'round here too!
In fact, that was one of the very first things I had to adjust to when we moved here to AZ. In CA, if the speed limit was 35, everybody's goin' 44. But HERE, if those signs say 35, everybody's doin' 33!
(...oh, and that there's no lane-splitting allowed here also...which, of course, DOUBLED my exasperation with all the blue-haired cagers around here too!)

Gol Dang it! I ain't never takin' that yella' North Carolina DMV sticker off my van now - even though it did expire back in 2006.
And BTW we're called Floridiots! You'd 'a knowed that if'n you wuz'nt such a newcomer youself. 26 years Hmmmpphhh. That ain't nuthin! Hell, I was drinkin' 'shine out of Rabun County afore that.
It is nice country though. I just got back from Flat Rock/Hendersonville/Statesville yesterday (brought our son and grandaughter home) and will be back up there in another week or two.

Smokey, make sure you don't group all us floridians as floridiots. What you call floridiots are actually damn Yankees. You know what the difference between a Yankee and a damned Yankee is don't you? A Yankee comes to visit FL then goes back home. While a damn Yankee comes down then stays.

In brutal honesty, there are tons of born and raised Flor...whatevers that relocate to Western North Carolina and build gated communities where such things were never heard of before. What often happens is they will grossly overpay for a home using south Florida beachfront homes as a price basis and then can't understand why a 1700sqft home can't bring them $500,000 in resale. For us, the trick is to make the original overpriced sale...but not in our own neighborhood, as we don't want unsellable homes around us.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Really? I lived in Milton for a while. I was in primary flight training at Whiting Field. There wasn't much back then...but it was a long time ago.
In fact, flight training back then consisted of feather wings attached by wax and the NATOPs manual just said not to fly too close to the sun.
