That was some Georgia 'shine, then, unless they've moved Rabun County.

Imported Hooch. Rabun County had quite a reputation and my folks had a place in Hiawassee.

UPDATE, so i am back from Sturgis, i fixed four HD's (two in transit, two while out there) the first, the risers vibrated loose after about 700 miles. second, the cup on the master cylinder had a dip in one side and was leaking (shaved some rubber off the grip of my tooth brush and made a thicker part to his gasket) anyway, my bike...to be fair, i did have to tighten a bolt on my aftermarket peg, and i cracked a washer on my Memphis Shades windshield mount...neither Triumph products.

Note: completely unrelated, Buffalo are NOT friendly. they are also NOT frightened off by gunshots. long story.

So Bill, I take it while on your ride to Sturgis and back, you didn't feel the need to stop and help any of those Harley owners who you might've encountered sittin' along the side of the road and who had gotten a flat tire on their trailers, eh?!

(...and here for a second you sounded like such a Good Samaritan!!!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

WHAT??? For a moment there I thought you were talking about Buffalo the city and the inhabitants therein! Still, know I realize you're talking about those large hump-back sheep I am still shocked (well more curious actually). Tell us the story - pleeeeeease.

If you are talking about when i blasted by some guy who was next to his trailer on a cell phone? well that is an interesting story. see i had run out of gas, and on res, and was trying desperately to get to gas station when i saw some dude who looked like he had some sort of issue (i passed him, along with about 80 of his HD herd members.) and i thought...if he needs a new trailer tire WTH can i do for him...besides, he kinda reminds me of that dude who gave me a hassle about being a brando fan and not wearing a j lo hat, screw him j/k i would have stopped but i seriously needed to get my @ss some gas.

ok so here is the story. i ended up missing the first day of riding with my group due to...too much shore leave. so i ended up doing crazy horse, custer state park, and rushmore on my own. it was great. now mind you the group i was with never saw any buffalo on their ride. so i come upon a field that spans a nice sized hill, there are a bunch of cars pulled over and low and behold about 75 buffalo in the field. so i get out my camera and take a few snaps from a distance...

...now at this point this is interesting as all get out; but i got places to be, so i get back on Ginny and ride on up the hill, passing the parked cars...to find out that they are not parked; but blocked...by the remain 50ish buffalo...

needless to say this isn't great; but not too bad...until the HD herd members decide that revving their engines will scare the beasts off...for the record, buffalo DO NOT LIKE LOUD NOISES, NOR HARLEY DAVIDSONS...so they began to crowd us, now mind you, i got one last pic before they got really close...

now, before you all judge (especially UK folks) i am a law abiding citizen. i have a utah out of state concealed carry permit. i have been trained in fire arm safety, close quarter combat, and various other handgun and rifle disciplines.

ok, so i am strapped, i carry and XD .40 cal, and the buffalo with it's head down in the previous picture, moved within about 10 feet of me and started blowing snot and pawing the ground. now mind you, i don't hunt, i have never killed anything, i love animals (especially with a side salad) seriously i am very big into anti-cruelty and dog rescue, etc. anyway, when that sucker got that close, all the peace and love crap went out the window. i pulled my piece. i figure if i had to, 12 rounds in the head would drop him and then i have a backup 9 round mag etc.

anyway, a few seconds after i draw, a DNR officer shows up in his truck/jeep thing (pretty cool, soft top truck)and tells me, 'sir, if you shoot that animal the others will view you as a threat to the herd and charge you' to which i replied, 'well i knew it was a flawed plan; but WTH else was a gonna do?'

i holstered and then DNR officer used grizzly pepper spray sprayed at the ground and a bull whip (seriously? so my gun is a bad plan; but you are gonna Indiana Jones these guys back...which he did, so WTH do i know) to back them up.

i showed him my credentials and was cleared to go (quickly) on my merry way...

so yeah, buffalo, big, tasty, not to be !@#$ed with.

that is a good story! next time I'm out there, I guess I'll carry a whip....

last time I was out there it was a herd of donkeys - they were all over the cars and people trying to get food from them - blocking the road. you can't even eat donkeys. they sucked..... hahaha

...you're gonna feel a little pressure....

I'm not sure a .40 cal would be enough. 300 grain .44 Mag at least.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Maybe a 12ga. with a slug barrel... I hear that's what rangers use when they have to deal with a bear up close and personal.

Mmmmm... buffalo... making me hungry...

This is my much less dramatic buffalo story (Yellowstone 2003):

Alone and in 99+ degree heat, they're a little less intimidating.

I don't have to outrun the buffalo, I just have to outrun the Harleys...
