You could sell a lot of those.

It would be cool to do one with all the common answers. Naturally there would have to be a few versions: 790, 865 and 904 version, etc. I think doing one for each year of production would get too complicated.

Maybe format it more like a spec sheet. Hmmmm...

Maybe have fill-in-the-blanks for year and displacement, and send one of those fabric pens along with the shirt.

Actually, I kinda like that one! I think I may get a sticker of Tanqueray Gin and put it on my side pannel!

He has not, since technically that is a licensed logo he just does email orders. He has done. eBay with 100% approval rating and uses pay pal etc; but eBay started hassling him.

He is very reasonable $12.99 for what I had done, plus shipping

Great job with the shirt there, Bill!

Yep, I might have to contact that guy and have one made for myself too!

And to answer your question here...Gin was a very popular drink in England from the mid-1700s to almost the present day, with London Dry Gin becoming the most popular type of Gin throughout the world.

And thus, because of its popularity especially among Brits. it has, or at least until recently, become synonymous with England. Thus, the whole British bike being a "Gin-Burner" thing. It's similar to how Japanese motorcycles are sometimes called "Rice Burners".

(...especially by one particular dude down in Australia by the name of Steven!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I don't know about in England proper but I believe that the popularity of gin and tonic across the British Empire was due in a large part to the effects of quinine in battling malaria.

I just Wiki'ed "Gin and Tonic", and yeah Chet, there was a little somethin' about that in regard to the practice of that during British Raj in India.

However, I think the popularity of Gin in Old Blighty predated that.

Never could develop a taste for it myself. The same is true of scotch, which I find unfortunate. I like a good single malt, like Glen Livet or Glen Fiddich, but mostly because it kinda tastes like bourbon to me, so it shouldn't be wasted on my uncouth palate. I am a bourbon guy. A good wheat blend, such as Makers Mark or Wellers, as opposed to the more common rye blends. A few Tennessee mashes work for me, as well. I think Jack Daniels is rot gut. I don't get its popularity other than the fact that they have great marketing. Sort of the HD of whiskeys.

I believe you're right about that Dwight.
I think it was popular amongst the poor because it was relatively cheap and got you drunk quick

Its also know as "mothers ruin" as downing a bottle while in a hot bath was a popular back street abortion method

I just got back from a 2300 mile trip which included the Dragon on my 97 Fatboy. Knock on wood, 1 broken clutch cable, 1 fork seal, 1 cly. base gasket, 2 starter drive gears, brake pads, tires and oil - 56,000 miles. It's never seen a dealership since it drove out in '97.
I'm very happy with my HD and my Speedmaster.

Jeez bro. thats quite a lot of stuff on one trip. Harley started drivers, dont get me started with overly complicated mess that is, I just put one together for a friend. He had his primary and oil can off for powder coating, it had been off for over a month. I was stuck with this six part mess that would be easier to do if I had done it before the I installed the clutch basket and primary drive chain.

Explain something to me. I live near 'the Dragon' or, as we call it, 'just another road'. It's usually crowded, has lots of cops, and any road in any direction is pretty similar. Why is it such a Mecca?

One of my favorite moments was when I pulled into a parking lot in a nearby town to run some errands. This was with my first '07 TBA.
After finishing up inside I came outside to the bike and fired her up (mind you she had the Bubs on). Some road crew guy came over, said he heard me pull in, liked the sound and wanted to come over and check out the bike. I said thanks and then he asked, "What type of Harley is that?".

Blue/White 2007 TBA, Thruxton needles, Unifilter, AI removed, Polaris Bellmouth, Bubs, Nology Coils/wires, Lightbar, Ricor Intiminators, Hagon Nitros, Tall Sissy Bar w/luggage rack, Dart flyscreen & Lowers. 130 Mains, TrueGel Battery MG12-BS.

That's a 56,000 mile road trip. Nothing went bad in the last 2300 except my butt hurt a bit. Speedmaster couldn't have done that trip, not with 18" apes, 500 mile days and all.

In my opinion - because it's at the end of the Blue Ridge Parkway which is truly beautiful. After 480 miles atop the Parkway the Dragon did seem kind of bland, I'll agree.

Meh, apes make any bike utterly worthless IMHO, but the TBA / SM could do that run easy...I'll let you know if anything comes off my TBA when I get back from Sturgis just under 4K round trip (carrying some standard tools for the HD cult members I cruise with.

Next question. Why in the world would anyone put ape hangers on their bike? What the point in that, unless you dry clothes on your bike?

The reason I ask, one of my HD friends has them and I rode his bike the other day. It was like riding a bike that had been wrecked. I wouldn't even consider taking it into the twisties. I mean, it's possible, but so is riding with your front wheel loose. When I asked him he said, "It's a Harley thing" and then went off eating bugs or something.

I love the apes on my bike, but I have 7 bikes so I can get away with making one a bit less ridable, you know, different scratches for different itches.

The speedmaster with 18" apes is incredibly comfortable for about 150 miles. If I'm really into the twisties, I'm on my Thruxton. I love my Triumphs but if I'm going cross country I'll be on my Ultra Classic, that's what it's for. The Speedy was my brother's, before he died he said "that would be a great bike to chop", he was right.

I love the apes on my bike, but I have 7 bikes so I can get away with making one a bit less ridable, you know, different scratches for different itches.

Just busting your HD hump Paul. except for those apes, those dang things are illegal in a lot of states for a reason. (joke too, i'm a libertarian, as long you ain't hurtin me and mine, i don't care)

I looked up the maintenance schedule for HD, and saw nothing about replacing the seat at 15K. I'm thinking he wanted a lot more than regular service or the service manager is a good salesman.
Or, maybe he has a dog. I got a free seat pan once from a guy who had a dog. Dog ate the rest of it.

I can understand as a fashion statement. I was just wondering if someone had an argument for how they made a bike better (other than personal taste). I just have two bikes and each one is set up for its purpose.
