Cagers will never realize that we biker s experience a multitude of scents and smells, that change every thirty feet. I smelled farmers spread manure, cut hay, a sweet flowery smell, cooking fried chicken, a sick diesel engine and something dead in the weeds, all in a 1/10th of a mile.Good smells or malodorous, I love Summer.

I was just telling a friend that the other day. I have just starting riding again after 26 years. I had forgotten this aspect of riding - and am thoroughly enjoying it - even the bad smells. Also the temperature differences as I go into a low area, up to a high area, etc.
...you're gonna feel a little pressure....

They would miss smelling their own farts if they had all that other going on.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

We totally understand dogs hanging their heads out the window. It's so great to be alive, especially cruising down a back road enjoying the sights and smells on my trusty Triumph !!

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

on one of the rides i enjoy riding there is a stretch that for about 10 miles there are orange groves on both sides of the road, and at certian times of the yr the smell of blossoms is soooo pleasant i have been known to stop and ENJOY the wonderfull aroma for a few (very similer to jasmine for those that dont know) the problem is that right after passing thru that wonderfull area there is a pig farm and brother i am here to tell ya that pigcrap is like a smack in the face after riding thru that jasmine like smell for at least 10mi. but for the most part i ENJOY the different smells of nature but have you ever run over a dead skunk at night when you didnt see it in the road and you are 20mi from anything and the smell just stays with you untill you can get to a hose if not be glad, be very glad
ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

Smells and sights! Speaking of sights, just this past Wednesday during my morning commute via mountain bike (yeah Florida is flat, I get it) I came across a sight better captioned as two wheel excrement. Seems like someone not only had a flat, but blew out their whole tube. Found some coinage too that I figured was lost when the tools came out to repair the err, replace the tube. Back to smells... I used to love riding at dawn in Miami. The bakeries were alive! The diesel smell of buses idling. The sub tropical plants sweating dew...
