I haven't had any luck finding the posts, but a few years there were a couple of people who used washers to modify the inserts/baffles in their SS pipes. One person welded a washer to the front of the insert, basically making the inner diameter hole of the insert smaller than it currently is. The other person did similar to the back end of the insert, and used a screw so that he could easily remove it from the end of the pipe if he wanted to. I wish I could remember who posted these, or find their posts. I honestly don't even remember what they posted about the end results either, but I think both said they thought it quieted them down a little. I'll keep searching and link the threads if I find them...

I repacked my SS pipes a couple of years ago, but it's time to do it again. I don't notice what I'd call a raspy sound, but it starts to sound like a magnified, hollow, metallic echo that bounces around inside my helmet even with earplugs in. Hopefully repacking will take care of it.
