Not entirely sure which forum this should go in as it's not technically a classifieds.

Does anyone have experience in ordering parts of the carbs for our motorcycles (i.e. not from Triumph).

the part i'm looking for (pictured below in terms of location) isn't on their 'order' list but it's the final piece to fix my original stock carbs.

Is it likely something from the carb makers or a specialist supplier? If so, does anyone know where?

the part is below (small bronze tube) and whilst i can't remember the name off the top of my head (a 'something' sleeve) i do remember it hard a part number...

any advice would be much appreciated, i figure i can either fix these up and sell them on or more likely fix em up to swap them round.

Try bikebandit.com not the cheapest around but they have nice parts diagrams.

That is the float needle seat that is missing.I don't think I ever saw one of those come loose, what happened?

I'm with Ian, how did that seat go missing? Usually that seat is pressed in and an interference fit so it shouldn't have come loose. Without the float needle seat there's no mating surface for the float needle to stem the flow of fuel.
That baby ought to be the devil to start with that situation.
That's a Keihin part you might be able to source through a local Honda dealership if you can't find it at Bike Bandit or Sudco.

If it wasn't laying in the bowl, it is on the floor, either yours or the shop's. Or maybe on the bike somewhere if the shop took it apart with the carbs on the bike. I once dropped a little brass collar that sits atop the main jet tube. It had fallen down between the battery amidst wiring and such, took me forever to find it.

If it was loose and not missing it would have been trapped in place by the float hinge.

Sorry for the delayed reply.

That set of carbs are the original set I had on before Triumph mechanic bloke tinkered with them.

When I got them back I had no needles in them and one of those brass seatings was rammed in about 2mm deeper than the other (or maybe it was the other way around, i forget).

Anyhow, the original seating was removed and I ended up buying a 'new' (second hand) set of carbs, which is the set that's on my bike currently (and is the set that's currently leaking).

What i want to do is fix my original carbs by finding the appropriate part and either a) swap em back around again or b) sell them on as they're taking up space.

sorry for the confusion all

P.S. the original brass seat was damaged on removal by the better mechanic (so i can't use the original parts)

Apologies for bumping this.
have pinged an email off to bike bandit - is there anywhere else that you can recommend i might be able to get the float needle seat from? - that's basically the only part i need to restore my original carbs back to life - and hopefully fix my bike for good.

Also, whilst i'm asking, what is the bore on our stock carbs? i've seen some on ebay which i might be able to cannibalise but they're apparently 36mm bore? i thought that was stock but i assume i'm wrong?

Have you tried contacting Sudco?

Sudco duly emailed (cheers for that!) and i've bought the cheap carbs from ebay in the hope i can do some form of transplant to make one healthy set.

As a sides, is it possible to split the carbs in half?
I.e. remove the right hand carb and replace with a different one from the one i've just ordered?

thanks for your help

I'm sure you could but if you get a clean set of used carbs why not just move your good bits over and use the replacement bodies?
