I have had a sleep number bed (Cal King) for over 6 years. It was the second one down from the their top of the line bed. It is very comfortable, and has at least a 2" pillow top that uses the same material that a Tempurpedic bed is made of. The memory foam weights more than the rest of the bed combined.
The dual control is great, and you can make the bed as soft or hard as you like.
I have had two failures with the air pump. Both times Select Comfort sent me a replacement at no charge. The second time they even sent me a replacement air bladder just in case (because the air pump was failing on only one side).
Overall I am very happy with the bed, and I expect to get about twice the life out of it that you would normally get from a standard mattress.
