Looks pretty cool. Sounds great! Is that an American made bike?

That bike reminds me a lot of a Morbidelli only with four cylinders instead of eight (also in a V format).

In fact the logo is almost identical (the M).

Something fishy is going on here!

Eeh, not really, Thanassis.

'Cause ya see, it's REALLY more just a take on the Honda ST11/12/1300s, that's all.

Though, your Morbidelli analogy isn't a bad one either.

(...which reminds me...I always though the name Morbidelli on a motorcycle could be put on that "Unfortunate Nomenclature List"...yep, though it might work a little better as a name for, say, an eatery that specializes in, say, monkey brain soup and cockroach sandwiches on its bill of fare!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

When I first saw AND heard the bike - Morbidelli came to mind.
It then hit me that the logo is similar.

Here's the bike (remember this is back in circa 1994 and the bike was a v-engined sport-tourer, as is the one in the video - side bags etc.):

Here are the logos:

Too many coincidences here for me here Dwight.

Here's my wild guess and I'll risk ruining my reputation (what? it's already ruined? well that's ok then ... nothing to lose ).

My bet is that Gianni Morbidelli (the original Morbidelli owner/designer Giancarlo's son and ex formula 1 driver) is behind this project, {edit ->} or at least in some way linked to it.

There ... I've said it.

Yeah, I remember the Morbidelli(I JUST can't get over that name! ) and the OTHER "unfortunate" thing about it...the bodywork.(and here we think Italians always design really nice lookin' stuff!)

However, there's been quite a few articles written about the MOTUS motorcycle and its development in "CW" and a number of other mags the last few years, and as I recall reading in those articles, the engineering, design and financial input is an All-American enterprise.

Wow Paul, I had NO idea that Mr. Bloor was makin' V-4 engines?!!!

Okay, alright, maybe the bodywork looks similar to your Sprint's, however most Sport-Touring bikes pretty much have that same basic bodywork design anyway, ya know.

I think the more important thing here is, of course, that engine, and that it's American born and bred, and that its not your typical American air-cooled and/or air/oil-cooled V-Twin that's made to be slotted into your typical American cruiser.

I didn't say it's not American - I just feel there is some link somewhere.

I guess they just sorta copied the logo. I mean the concept and colors are exactly the same. One can't ignore/deny that.

The rider was saying:

"I never felt the weight of the bike" ... "it was so neutral" ... "it behaved amazingly" ... "but when you pushed the thing into the corner, it wanted to turn, it wanted to continue round the arc of the corner" ... "and then as you apply the throttle it picked the motorcycle up ... it behaved almost as a race bike ..." etc. etc.

Just kidding here but along with the trellis frame ... all that sounded very Italian to me.

Not arguing Dwight, you may well be 100 per cent right, just my own gut feeling on the subject.

The '94 Morbidelli is not too disimilar to the Ducati ST2 which came about a little later. It must be the fate of the Italian sport tourers.

Not sure I am attracted to the Motus either (but the sound is fanfanfantastic!).

Yeah, I heard ya the first time!

Yep, the Ducati ST2 is probably known as being "one the least attractive Ducatis", alright. And yeah, there always was more than a passing resemblance between the ST2 and the Morbidelli.

And yep, Trellis Frames are probably known pretty much as being "Italian motorcycle heritage".

And, I also think the MOTUS is a nice lookin' bike that sounds pretty trick at speed. But, what I REALLY think is cool was what I was sayin' to Paul about this being a road bike designed and built in the USA that isn't your run-of-the-mill Cruiser.

Let us hope that the MOTUS folks have better luck than Erik Buell ultimately had.

The other thing about it that I find novel is that the MOTUS engine, in a way, is kind of a classic "American Heritage" design, as its an OHV pushrod motor, such as in most H-Ds and in one of the all-time great automobile engine designs, the Small-Block Chevy, which is STILL more than a viable engine design as evidenced by Chevy still using them in their world-class sports car, the Corvette.
