After 9 years and a few attempts, finally had speedometer read over a 100. Got it to read 102 mph.
In the past week I finally went over a 100,000 miles and now the speedometer to read over 100 mph. All I've ever done is synchronize the carbs and new plugs.
If I would have held throttle open longer, probaly could have had a reading of 105-106.
Speedometer was off about 5 mph when checked with police speed sign. Said I was doing 30 and speedometer said 35.

I'm well short of your milage but I've had it up to well over a 100. Last year I was outrunning a really nasty line of storms from the West and had a 40-50 MPH tailwind. I had it up to about 115 (according to mileposts going by at just over every 30 seconds.) When I finally had to make a turn to the South I filled up and found that I had averaged 50 MPG during that run. Too bad it's so hard to set that up

You have 100K on your bike? I am impressed and my hats off to both you and your bike. I guess that is proof that our bikes are definitely made to go over 100K. As for over 100 mph I don't think there is a day that goes by that I'm on my bike that I don't go over 100. It must really be nice to be able to ride all year long, I wouldn't know what that is like! Congratulations again!

Thats weird, I was just talking to a guy that worked at my local triumph dealer and he was shocked I had my speedy up over a 100. I was shocked he was shocked.

Andy, I congratulate you!!! Not so much for the 100mph but for the 100,000 miles! That is a testament of ride AND rider... a commendable milestone, a measure of time and travel. Nice going!!!

Hmmm... Sounds like 100K may be the 'break-in' point at which one may expect things are loose enough to achieve the ton.

thay will go to the top of the clock, done it a few times on the BA, must admit i did have me doughts at 1st but she done it ok, well done on 100,ooo miles nice one

I hit triple digits all the time, hit an indicated 120 a couple times but never pushed it past that. Wasn't looking at the tach ever at that speed so not sure what if any I had left.

As for the ton, without admitting anything, I believe mine will do an indicated 115mph two-up. Not that I know

Thanks for the comments. When I bought the bike, top speed was listed at 93-95 on write ups.It would do 90 easily, but wouldn't go much faster.
Guess I finally broke in the motor.Hopefully next 100,000 miles is just as good.
May even learn to adjust valves with shims.

Now that you look back, have you kept records to what you have replaced during the 9 years? How many sets of tires, brakes, chains, tune-ups and valve adjustments? Just wondering...I have about 93,000 miles to catch up to you. Thanks for sharing.

I would be doing that Andy if your shims are anything like mine after only 23,000k. New Cyl heads are very expensive!

THe valves were adjusted by a dealer, good mechanic.It was done a couple of times, last at 30,000.
Have box with receipts. Put last rear tire on at about 95,000. it was the 5th rear.Have put about 7 front tires.
It is only a 790 cc, not like the newer 865 cc.
It has also been laid down once,rear ended 2 times and front ended 1 time. May write a book about our adventures. Insurance company loves me. Twice guilty party at same insurance. Makes thing easier. almost was totaled.
Adjuster thought I was nuts, cause I wanted Bike fixed.When you have a bike like this, you can't say adeios amigo. The difference was only $100. so we changrd the Estimate. May get another bike? But this one is a keeper.
